I had a very unsettling dream this morning. It’s still
stuck in my head, unsettling me. Dreams about death tend to do that – I guess
not just to me.
As a result, I had a hard time getting out of bed.
Forget shopping today – I’ll do that tomorrow. I let Ziva out, when I still
thought I might get groceries this morning, but then changed my mind and let
the Mips out as well. I haven’t seen Mewthos since, but Lady Jane has come for
intense cuddling, and so has Ziva.
Speak of the devil, eh? As I go to the bedroom to
dress, Mewthos shows up. Both Mips look at me expectantly – as if my dressing
will lead to some interesting activity. Well, it does for me, as I’m making
myself breakfast. Fried Nürnberger and scrambled eggs. Mewthos goes out again
to play, but Lady Jane continuously pops in for cuddles.
It’s a beautiful day, sunny with a few clouds, not too
hot, a slight breeze – which will turn into a cold wind after noon, I guess. I
was considering vacuuming the flat while the Mips are playing in the garden,
but I’m tempted to join them and play in the garden as well.
There’s not much for me to do in the area I can safely
work – safe for the Mips, that is. I’ve cleared the beds, removed the grass and
weeds … then came up for a cup of coffee. Lady Jane is taking her new-found
fence a bit too far for my liking – she was standing on the wall to Rose’s
neighbours! Where The Terror lives! The doggie came running to greet Lady Jane
– and she turned and ran all the way back and upstairs with bushy tail! He he
he.
Snigger, I just did a spot of sneak-weeding in Rose’s
garden. She never knew I was there! Oh, I’ve threatened her that I would, and
she has no problem with it – so I’m not going behind her back, or weeding
without authorization. But she was busy inside and never heard me call, nor saw
me. When she notices, I’ll just tell her I don’t know anything about it – maybe
Mewthos and Lady Jane copied what they saw me do in my garden. He he he.
Her bed is in the full sun, though, so I couldn’t work
there for long. I did manage to clear a good bit, though.
Next, I decided to clear the drain and then worked
along the new bed our gardener made. Lady Jane followed me, she went through the
drain-hole next door! I don’t think she liked what she saw, because she came
running back pretty quick. She’s a feisty one, though, so she continued to look
for another route next door. Only, the route she thought would be a good one –
I kind of disagreed: As I was bent over, pulling weeds, she jumped onto my back
wanting to use that as a launch pad to reach the wall! She aborted the attempt
when I started straightening up, forcing her to get back on the ground!
After another break, Rose was outside. She’d put a
chair in the sun and was making another blanket. She didn’t notice at all that
I had cleared the one bed, he he. While she was crocheting, I tackled another
of her beds. I had a lot of fun and the beds are looking much better now. The
Mippies enjoyed themselves as well – Mewthos is claiming the spekboom in the
corner as his. He settles down on his paws surveying Rose’s garden quite
regally! The funniest bit was, when he went up to Abby, who was sleeping in the
middle of the garden, hissed at her, turned around and went back to his post
under the spekboom. Abby took no apparent notice – it was quite funny! Overall,
however, the cats are beginning to tolerate each other – mine and Rose’s, that
is. There are still occasional hisses and spats, but no attacks. Well, ok,
there still are occasional paws and claws swats. So?
After all that garden work, I felt a long soak in a
hot bath was called for. I’ve never really had the patience for a long bath. I’ve
tried it: set up a lovely special bath oil and bath salt bath, put up candles –
the works. Then I’d get in, and after about a minute or two, I’d get bored,
wash myself and get out. That hasn’t changed much, so I don’t bother with the
whole works anymore. What I did, though, is run a plain water bath, get in,
wash my face and put on a face mask. I had no entertainment while bathing,
today – Ziva did poke her head over the rim just to check whether I’m really
covered in water, again. Then gave me a look of utter disgust and walked out.
After the bath, I decided to give my nails some attention.
So I trimmed my cuticles, brought a shine to my nails and applying a generous
dose of cuticle oil. Why do I bother? Well, so that the first patch of dirt I
shove my hands in tomorrow to get at some weeds knows I really care! Ha ha ha!
Nah, I do it because it’s good to do something for no reason other than
spoiling myself.
