Monday at work

Not the best of nights, but ok. First thing I let Ziva out … and was surprised to hear her wanting back in soon afterwards?! Yeah – turns out Romeo learned to meep like Ziva does when she wants to come in. He ran straight to the food bowls and helped himself. Afterwards onto the scratcher for left-over catnip … and then? He didn’t want to leave! I had quite a time trying to get him out!

At work I spent the whole day just following up on everything I had followed up on last week. Seriously: How do business’ make a living when it’s such a mission just to get a quote? One company sent something they called a quote, but I couldn’t figure out what the total would be, plus they set a lot of conditions … so I wrote back that I asked for a quote to do the job – it’s your responsibility to find out what equipment is needed considering the conditions. They finally realized that they need to come have a look!

Another company can’t put together a simple time sheet – their days and dates don’t match up, and for verification they sent a photo of a computer screen which omits relevant data. Our site manager had already written back asking them to fix their ….-up, several times – but instead of doing that, they keep harassing him to sign their nonsense. Seriously? What are you thinking?

So, yeah – work’s been fun! Back at home, Ziva came to greet me at the garage again – today she even came up to me while the door was open! She’s never climbed into my car, only Rose’s. I stopped at the bottom of the stairs for a chat with Rose, but heard – what I thought was the Mips – calling to open to door … turns out it’s Romeo again! Sitting in front of my door mipping to be let in! When I opened the door he rushed inside straight to the food bowl and started gobbling. Ziva and the Mips flopped around in the passage, watching him.

While I went to sit down for a chat with Rose, the Mips went exploring – not as much as I wished, but at least some energy was burned off. At one point I went looking for them … I found first Mewthos by seeing where The Terror was pointing ready to attack! She had chased him nearly next door, where they’ve never been. As I was leading Mewthos safely back, I noticed Ziva was moving in on The Terror – which puzzled me, since Ziva only fights her to defend a Mip. Then I realized that Lady Jane was nowhere to be seen … so I went back. Turns out she had actually managed to corner both my Mips: Lady Jane was stuck in the tree, with The Terror sitting smug at the bottom. That's why Ziva moved towards her!

Back upstairs the Mips are playing funny games: Lady Jane climbed into the laundry basket (well, it’s more like a bag) and tries to pick up the water bowl with her mouth through the bottom of the bag! Naturally, water sloshes over the rim and Lady Jane gets wet – so she climbs out of the laundry, goes around it back to the water dish and continues her attempts to pick it up?! Of course she’s getting wet in the process – I really have no clue what she’s trying to achieve. She is curious about the strangest things!

Right now the Mips are burning up the energy they were supposed to burn up outside. Running to and from the bedroom, chasing each other and generally acting like active teenagers. I’ve packed my lunch and made dinner – being the focus of Ziva’s undivided attention while eating! Now that I’ve finished, she’s whining again – and I’m ignoring her.

Romeo was here again earlier, before Ziva came in – he caterwauled outside my door. He went to eat some more, then climbed onto the scratcher … wanting attention! He throws himself at my hand when I reach to stroke him, cries for more if I withdraw. He makes friendly overtures at the Mips – touching noses – but then, I think there was too much input and he snapped at a Mip. I can’t allow that, so I led him out – and finally, he went willingly! I have no idea where he was between his two visits this evening – after I went downstairs, he hung around for a bit and then he was gone. Until he caterwauled outside my door.

With Ziva threatening to be difficult, I gave her some catnip. And Mewthos as well. Apparently I gave her too much – because she started attacking first Mewthos then Lady Jane! She’s now settling down on the box behind me, having a good wash.
Well, it’s been a busy day – so maybe I’ll have a better night.
