Quite busy

Yesterday I was simply too busy to write a blog. I spent the whole day at work following up on what I followed up – repeat ad nauseum. Back at home, while I took time out to chat with Rose, Romeo came for his feeding – and he also behaves starved for attention! At the same time, he’s wary ... he will throw himself into my petting hand, cry, then run off. Then cry for more.

Since I planned to work five days this week, I did the dishes last night – half of the time, with Lady Jane on my shoulder! That’s a Yoga position! Ha ha! Or perhaps a contest for Fear Factor?!

I did take half an hour to sit down and play with my Mips on top of the continuous cuddles they asked for. Somehow, Lady Jane didn’t get her fill – because in the middle of the night she suddenly got up and demanded an intensive cuddle session! I wonder – do cats have nightmares?

This morning they were very disappointed when they heard me say that I would go to work – again! I thought about it, and decided that I’d take tomorrow off. Mewthos is going for his snip tomorrow, and that would leave Lady Jane completely alone at home the whole day – she has never, ever been completely on her own, I don’t know how she would process that. So I’ve decided to be there for her.

Workwise, that’s not ideal, because since I’ve been nagging and following up daily (since Monday) things are finally happening – and I’ll be loosing that momentum with a day off tomorrow; but frankly: tough! I tried to schedule the appointment for last week Wednesday, but this was the earliest available. And I don’t want to wait another week or two, either.

Getting quotes from local companies is unbelievably frustrating! All I want is three quotes! Only one of the companies I’ve contacted is dealing with my request in a professional manner – the other two? Man, I feel like slapping them left, right, left to activate their single brain cell! I NEED a break from this!

Back at home, I’m still upset over the palm sized hole in my lounge curtains – it’s my own fault, actually. Lady Jane went into a frenzy over a fly bumping into the window panes – I should have got up and let it out. Instead, I had my morning coffee. Today I came home to find the last flower pot overturned on the carpet! Ai, ai – I’m not happy.

Rose was out, so I amused myself with pulling up weeds along the path. Lady Jane enjoyed my bent-over position and promptly hopped onto my back for a walk. Repeatedly. She also checked in with me frequently – whereas Mewthos seems to have entertained himself. He’s getting quite audacious in the distances he explores – and does not listen when I call him. He was at Rose’s gate sniffing Romeo who sauntered past (and out towards the road)! Fortunately Mewthos turned around and came running home – but I am glad he’s booked for neutering tomorrow!

Despite the continuous late wake-ups, I do feel quite re-energised this week. I think it’s most probably because I am so busy at work now, I have a purpose and things that must get done – and it feels good!

Sigh, and now I hear a cat fight – The Terror probably has Ziva cornered, so I better go out and rescue. But first, I better shut the Mips in the bedroom.

Phew, it cold outside! Ziva was cornered in the far corner of Rose’s garden – so I had to go out, past the garage and across to Rose’s to rescue her! The wind, in particular, is unpleasantly cold after dark. Ziva eventually follows me, but only to the bottom of the stairs. She’s also wet – but only her rear? Anyway, I’m upstairs with the door open a crack, calling Ziva! Two minutes later she decides to come in! She’s now cleaning herself thoroughly.

One thing which still worries me is how my felines seem to just ‘get along’. They seem to be somewhat distant toward each other. Like Mewthos and Lady Jane never share anything, not a toy, not me. When either a toy or my attention, the other always steps back and waits his or her turn. At night they each sleep in their own place, not cuddled together. I’m hoping it’s just phase, that, once the Mips are adults, they form a closer bond again. But it means that until then, I have to play and cuddle sequentially – one after the other. Three times. Well, the cuddle bit at least. So that I basically have triple the attention demands on my. The idea was that with three cats they could attend to each other – reducing the demand on my attention!
Well, I better remove the water and food bowls tonight – I’m afraid cutting everyone off is the only way to ensure Mewthos doesn’t eat or drink before his operation. I’m not going to shut him away for the night.
