Odds and ends

Not the best of nights, as I kept having to get up throughout. Before going to sleep, the Mips somehow got too close to the toilet’s water for comfort, ha ha! I just heard some noises (though I didn’t hear a splash) and when I next used it, the whole seat was wet – and so was the floor! I have no idea what they had gotten up to! And that was after they shut down my laptop. Anyway, after that, they meekly came to bed.

I think I’ll have to bring out the winter duvet again, so that maybe I can get some of the duvet for myself. All the cats like to sleep on top of duvet, not directly on the sheets, and that doesn’t exactly leave enough duvet for me to cover myself. On the other hand, I can dictate where they sleep if I get to bed first and leave them duvet only where I want them.

Lady Jane still has to burrow underneath the duvet for a trip up and down before she settles down to sleep. Mewthos on the other hand just plops down and starts cleaning himself.

Well, I got up around eight and first let the Mips and Ziva out. Then I made my coffee, followed by another breakfast of croissants with cottage cheese, Aufschnitt (German cold meats – NOT polony!) and capers. And now I’m trying to decide what I’d like to do with the rest of the day. I’ve put a load in the machine – including the widdled on bath mat (Again!).

I took a photo tour through the garden. All flowers are in the sun in the morning, and the wind usually starts only at noon – so I could get some nice photos. Ziva insisted on an intensive cuddle session right in the middle of the garden – she kept photo-bombing my flowers until I relented. Overall, though, it’s too hot in the sun, so I’ve come back upstairs. Lady Jane is perilously close to the road – I’m hoping my being upstairs will bring her back to safety soon. Mewthos is demanding attention here and now.
He's starting to spend time 'just chilling' after he's eaten

After photo-bombing all this time, she turns away when I try to take a photo OF her!
Yep, that's my Mip-mommy

No rainbow today - so I got a beautiful colour contrast with the pink Hibiscus against a blue sky
I’ve posted Romeo’s pic on Facebook, hoping to find his owner – a lot of people comment how he’s chosen his owner. Sigh – he is a stunningly beautiful cat with those aquamarine eyes, but I simply can not add another cat. I still have a long way to go to recover from the financial implications of this lot’s vet bills, and they each need a lot of attention – I don’t have time for another individual. Anyway, he doesn’t seem to be looking for a home, only food. But the picture is getting shared around PE, so hopefully his owners can be found soon – and have him neutered! He’s now exploring more and more of my flat, my bedroom the bathroom … and he came with me when I visited Rose in her courtyard. Sigh …

I’ve cleared the path between the beds of weeds, again. The rains are really promoting weed growth! I’ve also trimmed back any Nasturtiums trying to invade my path-space. Now the wind has picked up again and it’s unpleasant being in that breeze. I’ve just closed all windows. Romeo is exploring my flat again, and seems rather disappointed that there is no further wet food materializing – while my cats turn up their noses at wet food! They only want the jelly from the jelly meat sachets.

I also updated my audio book list on my laptop – it’s a very old laptop, the replacement I got after mine was stolen in the armed robbery. Since nobody had any insurance (neither my boss nor the guest house), I got this antique, which has very little memory. Well, it does what it needs to – and when I don’t need it for work, it’s my audio-book player. And now I’ve got Science Fiction books to choose from, as well.

I re-fitted the self-scratcher to the scratcher, then started frying myself dinner. While waiting for the steak to fry, I thought I’d clean the litter box … and while I’m standing bent double over the box, Lady Jane decided this is the perfect time to jump onto my back! I had some difficulty persuading her to get off, she obviously loved having such a large surface on mommy to walk on! She wanted to explore at length! She’s always interested in everything I do. Like earlier, I put a chocolate on the desk, and she came on my lap – then picked up my chocolate! At the moment she is more attached to me than Mewthos. Mewthos is beginning to wander – not yet far, but he stays out after Lady Jane has come in already. It used to be the other way around. I’m glad his snip is booked for this Thursday! I wouldn’t want him to end up like Romeo! Hormone driven into a strange neighbourhood … (at least, I still hope he has a home!).

Well, I’ve put the cover on my feather duvet – with the intense ‘help’ of Lady Jane and Mewthos. They were very interested in ‘what mommy doing’. I’d kept the duvet in the cupboard, where they were born – and both eagerly entered it … only to immediately try to put claws into my clothes! So, no way! It’s not so cold, yet, that I need the feather duvet; it is, however, cold enough for me to want MY duvet to cover myself! So I’m offering the feather duvet to the felines to sleep on – so that I can have mine to myself.

Then I printed Mewthos’ adoption agreement, to take to the vet on Thursday. Two very curious Mips watched the printer with complete fascination!
I’ve had this headache all day long, just a nagging at the back of my head. I’ve eaten, had plenty liquids, went out in the fresh air – and even tried aspirin. No luck so far, so I’ll try an early night after a shower.
