Yes, it's been 19 years! On 2nd April 2004 was my first day sober - though, of course, I didn't know that at the time. No, I'm not going to reflect in this post, today ...
Lady Sybill came and slept with me last night. Mippies weren't happy, but tolerated her. Progress. Oh, there was the occasional hissing, but that's it.
Sybill has a preference of playing with her turds! She's got plenty of toys to bat around, but she prefers to bat around turds. Earlier, when I went for a lie down, she tried to knead and nuzzle ... no milk, girl. Sorry! But she's very happy to be indoors!
I slept much better last night. Although, I did get up during load shedding and put plasters on every single infected wound. There's quite a bit of swelling on both hands - left hand being the worst.
Still, I managed to make bread and wash the dishes.
I've been using my KiloWatt Meter a lot. And making notes. Baking a loaf of bread in the machine uses only 0.248 kW! The oven uses a lot more, I'm sure!
Next, I will measure the pressure cooker. I've assembled my scale, weighed the roast - it's exactly 2kg. Needs 88 min in the pressure cooker.
I've fried the pet mince - it doesn't smell very nice ... I'm not buying that again. Well, twenty past eleven ... load shedding at twelve. Sigh ...
This time our power did go off. I spent the two hours chopping. Cherry tomatoes, bell peppers - harvesting seeds, beans - also harvesting seeds from those too far gone to eat, carrots, celery, and pork rashers.
When the power came on, I started sautéing everything. Took everything out, sautéed the roast on all sides, added chicken broth, scraped the bottom clean, added a tub of tomato puree, spices, the roast ... so this time, I've done everything properly. I also calculated the time to the minute - just waiting for the first hour to finish, then I'll add the balance.
Lady Sybill is learning a new word: 'No'. Ha ha! She's not difficult about it, though. She's either on my bed or under my feet the whole time ...
I watched the election of the new DA Leader - and I'm relieved that John Steenhuisen was re elected.
I've re-packed the pet mince and washed the dishes again. It's almost four, so ... well in time.
All done ... I've showered. Sadly, I just heard one of our neighbours is moving away! The one who started our WhatsApp group. The one who reports power outages from the other account ... that's really sad ...
On a positive note, he gave me his growth trays. Styrofoam seedling trays.
And Lady Sybill seems to have changed her mind ... she's outside with her family, and I brought her inside, just at the door - and she walked back outside ... Sigh ...
Smeagol is in mourning. I'm very sorry for him. I wish there was something I could do to console him ...
Oh, and even the ferals are rejecting the pet mince! Now THAT is bad! I'll have to pour some gravy over it, if I don't want to end up throwing it all away ...
Okay, Sybill came running at top speed when I called ... so I grabbed her and shut her in her room. Then I brought my lot inside - early - and let Sybill out of her room. She doesn't want to eat in her room, she wants to eat with everyone! So I put a bowl down for her next to Mini on the floor!
I guess she was just tired of being hissed at and needed some feline love and attention! She played quite happily with her brother and cousins. I gave in and added a pouch of Whiskas to the pet mince ...
My roast, on the other hand, is awesome! I've just had a bowl - the meat literally falls off the bone, but isn't dry. Only one note: next time, cook the carrots just a wee bit longer!
Sigh, Mewthos isn't happy with Sybill eating his left overs ... he just slapped her - so I slapped him. So, yeah ... challenges still ahead ... poor Sybill! She, too, just wants to be loved! She went up to Mewthos, politely sniffing him when he just slapped her! I'm not impressed.
Well ... time to call it a day ... I'm having a second bowl ... Ziva is here for lovies ... I'll grab Sybill before I go to bed.
Awesome to read.
