LS 4 Thursday

The drive home would have been a nightmare, had I not known that it would be. Just before I left work, I saw a notification that there had been a fatal accident on the Warmbad Road, and traffic was being diverted - onto my route home. Plus, load shedding starting at six ... and then, at three to five a neighbour casually mentions that power at home has apparently been off since four!

The good news: power was on, when I got home. The not so good news: I arrived home at ten to six! Good news, though: I managed to cook dinner before the power went off! Just in time!

I allowed Lady Sybill to go outside and visit her family. Sigh ... I had to catch and carry her back inside ... and then she was depressed. Poor baby! I get it, outside she is happily welcomed by her brother and her cousins. Her mother was visible, too - though she didn't come to say hello to Sybill, she stayed sprawled at the end of the driveway ... until my tenant arrived.

I shut her in her room, while I went to catch the rest of my mippies. Mini is out of sorts - she's attacking Ziva, Lady Jane ... I don't know ... I spent time playing with Lady Sybill, but she was not as enthusiastic as the night before. I'm hoping that, spending time with her family over the weekend will help. I worry, of course, that her feeling depressed will flare up her snuffles again ... I wish I knew what's best, without a doubt!

Missing fruit juice was not included. Again! And I seem to have accidentally ordered Granadilla! Yuk! I don't like Granadilla ... gave it to my tenant. Just checked my order now: Nope, I ordered Gingerade, not Granadilla! I don't remember seeing an Orange Juice last night, either ... I'm going to have to go through this over the weekend! Ideally tomorrow. I don't have the energy for that shite now ...

I went to get groceries ... got everything on my list. No cigarettes. Again! And the potatoes? Really expensive now! Well, double the price from last time ... I suppose they can get more expensive.

They had a huge chuck roast - with bones ... too big for my pot. They cut it for me - not in half, it didn't work that way. It looks to me more like rib ... I'm going to check with my book at home!

Something's not lekker with this site. For some reason my text won't justify - just align ... even though it show's it's 'justified'. Sigh ...

My list of 'musts' is relatively short. Okay, so I MUST process the food I bought today - but I can either just package and freeze it, or I can process before packaging. I'm afraid those vacuum sealer rolls are a tad too small. I'll have to get some wider ones. But I've had an idea with the chicken hearts - based on something I saw online: I always turn them into mush, anyway, so this time, I want to freeze them in bags, then open just a corner of the bag and squeeze it out ...

I saw that done with mashed potatoes. Someone saying, if you've lost your masher, just put everything into a ziplock bag and use your hands to squeeze-mash it all together. Then they snipped a corner and squeezed it out ... decoratively.

Yes, the chicken hearts were frozen, again, so I bought 3 blocks. Which turned out to be about 3kg. Perfect! I also bought 2L fresh milk - the frozen chicken hearts will keep everything cold in my cooler box.

Apparently tomorrow we have only one scheduled outage, from 02:00 - 04:30. Well, it may change any time ... I better check what times we'd have at higher stages, and plan around that ...

Oh, sheez! Another U-Turn:

Electricity minister makes a U-turn — says corruption is one of the reasons for Eskom failures:
Last month, electricity minister Dr. Kgosientsho Ramokgopa said the problems at Eskom power stations were "technical" and had nothing to do with "so-called corruption."
He has made a U-turn today, and says one of the reasons for the failures at power stations, specifically at Medupi power station, is due to corruption. Ramokgopa says the corruption is "well documented in the Zondo report."

This is getting ridiculous! What's next? We wake up and find Bobby in the shower?

Anyway. I'm looking up recipes - or rather: cooking instructions - for some things i might like to try this weekend. Yeah, I'm not interested in recipes. I know what to add to make delicious meals! What I need is the cooking instructions for the pressure cooker.

Bit of a conundrum: at home I have the time to get the information, watch the videos, etc - but at work I have the internet. So ... I do it when I have internet, and time. That's one of the reasons I got a little notebook. Well, three, actually. I make notes so that at home, if I can't get online, I still have the info. And when I'm happy with the results, I plan to write up the whole recipe.

Here's my Lady Sybill! Personally, I don't think she's particularly beautiful - her brother has much prettier colouring ... but that doesn't matter. They're all my favourites! And, of course, I tell them all that they're beautiful.

Ah! Suddenly I can justify my paragraphs again. No, I have no clue why. Moving on ...

Just past four ... yeah, with load shedding from six to eight and again from two to four tomorrow morning, I'm going to publish before I leave work.

Looks like another hot weekend, with 50% chance of rain on Monday. Temperatures are tickling the 30 Celsius again - not quite reaching, but close enough to make it giggle. I might garden in the morning, then come inside to play in the kitchen.
