Power went off during the night. Fortunately, I happened to be awake when that happened - I had woken a minute or so before it went off. So, I was able to shut down the PC before the UPS ran out of juice.
The disruption resulted in my getting up late. Drag the gas bottle into the kitchen, so I could make myself coffee ... off to work.
At work, report the outage. An hour later, power is back on.
I see an invitation to what they call 'Talking Tuesday'. It's a meeting with our Ward Councilor, the mayor of Tshwane and one of the DA's Shadow ministers - just around the corner from home. Tomorrow at six in the evening. I could go directly from work, although I would be getting home after dark. No, I'm not overly interested in politics - but I am interested in the local community. And I would like to know what can be done about the continuous power outages - every time it rains! Plus, I might connect with local security groups.
There are Ward elections on 4th May, I noticed the posters and wondered why there is a different DA candidate - turns out the current Ward councilor has changed parties ... Action SA, which seems to be where half the DA move to ... it's an interesting and promising party, founded just after the end of the hard lock-down.
Anyway, because the current councilor changed parties, we have by-elections next month. I've checked, and I am registered in this ward. Phew! And yes, I would like to vote.
Now, if only I could figure out WHERE exactly this 'Talking Tuesday' is taking place. According to the notice, it's Plot 18, Musaiek. Those are two different locations ... Plot 18 is near Soutpan road, and Musaiek is way past where I turn off ... there's a WhatsApp number for my ward, so I've sent a 'Hi' ... lets see if I can clarify. If not, I'm pretty sure the correct location would be Musaiek - since that's a venue.
Seems so. They just WhatsApped me a location, which is the venue's location. Well, no harm in driving there and see ... Ah! They confirmed! Let's see if I can bully myself into going ... I've seen sign posts along the road, so it should be easy to find.
Back at home, I'm tending to the tomato plants in the pots. They also keep growing and growing ...
Well, that's it for today ...
