Dark, wet awakening

Power went off during the night. I estimate around five. We had quite a bit of unexpected rain during the night.

Gas bottle out. Coffee. Off to work. Heavy traffic. Late for work.

Oh, nice! My shoestring budgeting is finally paying off! I'm completely out of the red this month! Oh, I've not gone into the red permanent - I just had to use my credit card at the end of the month, then top it up after pay-day. This month, I have enough left in my savings account to avoid that. I've paid my rent and topped up my credit card ... I'll buy electricity on Wednesday.

Of course, now I'm tempted to get some of the items I've had to move to the 'luxury' list, as a result ...

Oh golly! Major cloudburst at work - hopefully all is well at home!?! I cannot handle another flooding!

I got a call from my neighbour, asking how he can get into my property to look at the geyser ... sorry, I gave my landlord the spare remote. If he's lost it, then he'll have to make a plan.

Aaaand ... the threat of load shedding is once again hanging low! Eishkom warns they may be forced to implement load shedding again at short notice. Sheez! At least that won't affect me tonight - unless they jump right into Stage 4; they usually ease us in with Stage 2.

Aaaand power off again! Not load shedding, just went off again ... reported. Again.

I finally updated my details on one of my policies ... as a result, I'm now paying more. That wasn't the plan ... sigh ...

Power is back on. Again. No load shedding announced ... yet ... wanna bet that'll happen between five and six? Peak usage time in homes? Sigh ...

Back at home, busy, busy, busy. Daily chores, then a bit of weeding. With the new rain - just over 10 mm - I've decided to continue cleaning the mowing area. I'm working a patch I already mow - though with great difficulty. I have to go over it, back and fourth, quite a lot. It is covered in little stubs of tough grass - so hard, they're almost like branches! Space-wise, I didn't get very far - in the less-than-half-hour available before dark. But every bit helps!

It looks like they've replaced the geyser. Small issue, just tonight: it's now full of cold water, so it's going to take a lot longer to get hot water for my bath. I don't have time to wait too long, so a luke-warm bath tonight. I'm leaving the geyser on, for a while, at least. Tomorrow night should be better.

As I'm typing this, I have Janey on my lap, kneading my chest, purring happily!

Last night I enjoyed a special moment when Ziva snuggled up to Mini, and Mini gave Ziva a few licks! Those two are usually at loggerheads! I often have Ziva dash past me to get to the top of the bookshelf ... away from Mini, who's usually right behind her!

Right now, Ziva is waiting for me to get on the bed so she can get her cuddle cave ... she's on the night stand. I guess I had better oblige, eh?
