I'm beginning to wonder which will one day be labelled as the most devastating a) 42-46 years apartheid b) 26 years corruptions or c) NCCC control - however much longer it will continue?
I also wonder how much longer I'll be stuck at home ... depleting my resources with no income. Sigh.
Mewthos came for cuddles under the duvet with me, last night! So did Mini. Both only for a while, of course - as long as I'm willing to tickle tummies, they're willing to let me! I woke up to find my feet pinned down with a mip on either side, which made turning over something of an exercise. Mini no longer lifts the lid off the flower fountain in the mornings, I'm happy to say - it is quite a nuisance, when she does that.
Ziva brought in a mouse, which Mewthos then cornered. And I had quite a time getting it away and safely back outside - eventually! Only ... the silly thing just sits there, in the garden, where even I can spot it without having to search! It's had time to recover in the box, why is it now just sitting fat and quiet in the garden? Shouldn't it go running home - wherever that is? Sigh.
I'm still experimenting with the filter coffee to achieve the aromatic delight which motivated me to get it in the first place. Just like I'm no great baker and never will be, I'm equally no barista! No, I'm not referring to a waiter in Italian, I mean those who specialise in making the perfect cup of coffee. I'm only going for 'perfect for me' - nothing more. The espresso worked out better than the moccha - maybe I'll try a mix tomorrow.
I'm trying a different muffin recipe today - one that uses self-raising flour AND baking powder. Strange, but who knows? Might just turn out nicely. I've scooped the cheese into the bag and put the bag in a sieve over the pot in which I make it. I've also scooped the whey into a bottle to use instead of water, when I make bread. When the muffins are done and the tray has cooled, I'll wash the dishes again.
Well, the muffins turned out very well - except for the chocolate 'chips'. Spar didn't have chips at the time, so I took 'discs'. The last packet had thumb-nail sized discs, but this one was almost as large as each muffin! I ended up putting one disc per muffin between scoops of dough. Ah well, used up and finished now.
The cheese is more like cottage cheese this time - lovely! I'll see how it works out on bread, but I like soft cheese more than hard. Cottage cheese more than feta. I've mixed in some salt and spices - still the original spices that came with the kit.
I've had an extensive shower, using up a lot of hot water! Just in case, though, I washed, shampooed, conditioned and rinsed as fast as I could, then just enjoyed the hot water :) You never know whether he'll turn it off on me.
I think in future I must make sure that no landlord ever has control over my water nor electricity! In Pretoria North, I had my power turned off because the landlord hadn't paid the municipality! Since that's breach of contract, he lied ... as if I believed him! And if either turns out the be pre-paid, I must check the timing, when the government turns off my geyser! Not like PE, where they turned it off when I got home from work!
And then I used my dried my hair - another lovely electrical appliance!
For dinner I enjoyed steamed potatoes. I'll enjoy more of the same tomorrow :) For desert I had another muffin followed by a cup of Earl Grey tea!
It was starting to get dark, so I went to the door and all my mippies came ... except for Mini! Her turn to worry me! Sigh. I have a feeling it's that black tom cat. She's been in and out all day, as usual, so I don't think I need to worry.
Oh, nice! Mini is home. With a mouse! In the lounge! Sigh ... I'm just hoping the poor thing is dead - there's no way I can get under the desk into the corner where she's toying with it ...
Oh, nice! Now Mewthos is bringing it into the bathroom! I just hope I don't find bits of it during the night ... Man, life with young cats! Never a dull moment, eh?
Well, it's only seven o'clock and all four mippies are curled up on the bed doing their best impression of 'cute'. Successfully, I might say! I've had a cup of chamomile tea, and feel like just curling up with my mippies ...
