Urgh! It is freezing today! There's an icy wind blowing that just goes through and through! I seriously considered waiting another hour to get my milk, as it was icy cold by eight! When I had the car out the gate, Mini came running at top speed ... saw me in the car, stopped ... when I got out, she came running again. I shut her in with Mewthos. When I drove on, as I came around the corner, Ziva sat in the road looking at me goggle-eyed! Of course I'm driving slowly, so she recovered and jumped over the hedge out of the way. She was upset that I would leave home with her shut out! When I got back, she sat on the path just outside - the front door stays open, only the passage door is shut, so she could have gone inside. Just not to the food bowl.
Baking sounds like a good thing to do on such a cold day, doesn't it? Well, I've got cheese on the stove, baked bread rolls and another batch of cookies. Washed the dishes before and after ... I kid you not!
Oh, and I think I know why Ziva now stays out so late ... there's a new tom cat in the area! Well, not totally new, my landlord mentioned him before, but I've never seen him. I was sitting having a smoke last night at the open door, when he came around the corner running down the path towards the gate. At first I thought Mini had got out! But then I saw the white paws.
I also made myself a hot custard today. Lovely and warming! I'm now low on custard powder, too - not to worry, though, since I still have several packets inherited from my mum. Yes, they're old. So what?
I fried myself another steak today and offered Mewthos his piece ... he didn't want it! Huh? Do I need to worry?
All my girls came home very early, so I took advantage and I've shut them in already. It's half past five, not even dark, yet! I'm just waiting for Mewthos now ...
Still no news on the judges decision regarding the ban on the sale of cigarettes ... Sigh.
Half an hour later, still waiting for Mewthos! I've stood by the door and called, then heard a cat fight somewhere by the store so I got the keys and went to go look. Nothing. My landlord was standing in his garden making cat-fight noises. He does that. A lot. No clue why. Anyway, I couldn't find Mewthos, so I went back home - nothing I could do. The store alarm had gone off, so my landlord went to have a look - at least I can be sure Mewthos isn't shut in the store. I was beginning to think that he might be a long time - like that evening when he went after Sir Galahad. So I went back inside and had hardly sat down to write this, when Mewthos mewled at the passage door! Phew! HE ALWAYS worries me, when he's late! Every time!
Oh and I watched the Coronacast again today. Mostly about the personal care industry = hairdressers, manicurists, etc. I can not understand just WHY they are not allowed to work! I mean: social distancing is already part and parcel of the job! It's not like there's ever a crowd, anyway. And they have to clean their equipment regularly anyway, too. So the extra precautions required to meet the current situation is not a big deal for them. And yet: they are not allowed to work! It makes no sense ...
This whole, uniquely extended and uniquely hard lock down in South Africa makes no sense. It's undeniably no longer about the virus, it's become completely about power. The number of households now food insecure keeps rising ... farm attacks are on the rise again, as the farm security is not allowed to work. Schools have been plundered. And government is sitting on billions of rands they borrowed - but don't have the resources to deploy where they are desperately needed! And legally our hands are tied - we have to wait for the various entities to take each and every idiocy to court. Zuma didn't even bother to file papers for today's case re the personal care industry. She's been given another 2 weeks ...
I've had a lovely, extended cuddle session with Mini last night! She crawled under the duvet with me - almost like Mynx used to - and enjoyed having her tummy tickled, her ears scratched and lots and lots of belly rubs! I quite enjoyed that! The others are all full of cuddles, but they don't often cuddle me! I mean, I'm always having to pick them up and hold them, but they don't really sit on my lap or such. Mewthos also came for an under cover session, but didn't stay very long.
I just had one of my tinned soups. Nice to have a hot soup, it's warming me up a treat. Now I'll use my foot spa, then my feet will be lovely and warm as well - and then I join my mippies in bed - hoping to get cuddled ha ha ha!
