I didn't sleep much last night, yet I feel fine this morning. I stayed up watching 'A Touch of Frost' until way past one in the morning - yet, I got up before 7 without any trouble.
I've been smoking a bit more, yesterday, and with the 12x strength, I'm also coughing a lot more! Not nice! I'll try to cut down again, today. No news on the tobacco ban, so I'm afraid we'll have to wait at least another week until the case goes to court on 9th & 10th June. Sigh. So, I called my colleague and asked for another carton - which he'll probably only get this coming weekend! Double-sigh! I hope I can stretch what I have left until then. Well, not like I have a choice, eh?
First of my orders has been delivered, I'm guessing it's half the cat food - the spare bag of Fit 32. The other one, for the sachets, is confirmed, but for some reason not yet shipped. I got mail from Faithful to Nature, apologising that one item on my list is not in stock, even though it showed as available - I suggested they keep it, when they do get stock, and add it to my next orders delivery. It's the Arrow Root powder - closest I could find to cornstarch, which the cookie recipe calls for. I'm using potato starch for now. And I still have plenty, so it's okay if I only get that next month. I'm now waiting for them to confirm that they agree with my solution. I mean, they offered to send that, as soon as it's back in stock - that's going to cost them unnecessarily! Which, of course, eventually increases prices ... so, mutually beneficial!
I went to collect my milk around eight - only Mewthos was home, but THAT's my worry-boy. The milk farmer's son is still stuck here - can't fly home to Poland ... still! We always have a quick chat about current affairs, etc. I think he looks forward to that as much as I do - like an escape to sanity for a few minutes, twice a week!
I don't feel like baking or any other kitchen activities, today - for dinner, or rather as main food, I'm just frying slices of bread with tomato and cheese. The Avo's I bought last week are still fine, I'll eat them when they are ripe. I just don't feel like doing anything today.
I spoke to our production manager and we agreed I should come in on Thursday. I also said that I'll want to take At shopping, and got his okay on that - he's At's manager. For myself, all I'd need would be baking margarine and instant yeast. Definitely baking margarine, though! Oh, and long-life milk - just 2 liters. I've had to use up the 6 liter I've had, as it's expired. And I'm not getting another 6-pack again, no matter how economic. I'll get just 2 liters.
I was chatting with some game friends, and then watched the Coronacast, which today featured the issue of schools reopening. An interesting point they made was, that the question being asked shouldn't be 'Why is the Western Cape opening, when the other provinces aren't' but 'Why aren't the other provinces ready to re-open, when the Western Cape and Gauteng are'! They also brought on a pediatric pulmonologist who gave her scientific opinion on the pros and cons - or rather the benefits vs risks.
Okay, remember my hope that I misunderstood what our president said about pension funds? Here's the DA's statement on it. Scary! Very scary!
Oh, and their MPs comment on the cigarette ban:
I had to look up boondoggle: "an unnecessary, wasteful or fraudulent project". Apt!
Oh, and the macramé belt is still coming along nicely. It now fits all the way around my large waist, and now I'm just adding a bit more to tighten it neatly.
Right, my FTN grocery order is packed - so I hope to collect it on Thursday!
I'm guessing Leon has lost his worker, as I haven't seen him since Friday morning, when he told me he's had enough.
The President of the United States just gave a live address from the Rose Garden. He took no questions from the press. He has officially declared all anarchists, anti-fascists, protestors, looters, and rioters as terrorists.
He has used his Executive Authority- with no Congressional Approval- to order the following:
• All dc citizens are subject to an enforced 7:00PM curfew.
• Governors are expected to deploy the National Guard against their own citizens.
• Should Governors fail to comply, **he is authorizing the full military might of the US Armed Forces to be used against his own people.**
• Anyone found in violation of his orders will be subjected to a lengthy sentence.
Directing the military to act against our own citizens is against the law. It wasn’t a suggestion. It wasn’t a misunderstanding. It wasn’t speculation.
The President or the United States has declared War on his own people.
Compared to that, I guess we're still lucky? For now ...
Breaking news: Level 4 and Level 3 Lockdown regulations are ruled invalid and unconstitutional!
Despite the peaceful protests planned throughout South Africa today, being 'blocked' by police! Still, it's a step ahead! Of course, now starts the lengthy appeal process, I guess ... Still, this is ground-breaking! The house of cards comes tumbling down!
Hmm, just found this explanation:
laymans explanation of the Law and judgement in this matter.
Level 3 remains in effect for 14 days..NDZ has that time to fix ALL the regulations to bring them in line with the Constitution..if not done in 14 days the ENTIRE LOCKDOWN must fall way.
NO Judgement regarding Cigs at this time, was excluded from this court order, but has been postponed sine die (without date).
Judgement on Cigs AFTER 14 days if this matter is not concluded to the courts satisfaction.
NDZ has 14 (fourteen) days to rectify the Regulations imposed in the Disaster Management Act and under which we have all had our Rights Violated. She must appear before the Court to prove such has been done. If it is NOT done in that 14 day period the ENTIRE LOCKDOWN will cease to be in existence.
Someone's got her work cut out for her, Muhaahaahaahaa!
Predictably, the DA immediately added their own little piece, asking for her resignation.
Mewthos let me wait quite a while tonight! Ziva came late, but Mewthos? Very late! I'm not sure what's up with him again. He's twirling again, someone's piddling on my duvet - I suspect him - and now he comes home late! And then demands special attention. Then growls when he gets it! My little weirdo!
Well, Facebook is now abuzz with the implications of the Breaking News! I've had another cup of chamomile tea, so I think I'll try to find space on the bed among my four mippies!
