When will this madness end? It is neither funny nor even tolerable anymore - I'm not a mushroom! I don't thrive on being kept in the dark nor on being fed bullshit! It's all these irrational new laws that have me riled and fuming.
Yeah, good morning to you, too! Ha Ha! Well, I'm not alone in this way of thinking. Nor the only one feeling as I do ...
Anyway ...
I got up at half past five this morning. No, I don't know what possessed me ... basically, I was just bored in bed. Mippies weren't entertaining me, either, so I just got up. I then had to dodge them wanting to go outside ... I let them out earlier then usual, as it was getting light - I chose not to wait until it WAS light.
By eight, three mips were inside, so I shut them in and went to get milk. Janey was still out ... I no longer worry about her when I go to get milk.
I spent some time with my vape today, cleaned it out, then went through drawers and such, looking for any accessories and liquids. I found several which also contain nicotine - what I'd been using until now, was the nicotine free melon medley. Nice, but 0 mg nicotine. Now I found the old Cherry drops again, which I got many years ago, when it was still e-cigarettes, not vaping. You'd add a few drops to the cartridge which fit at the one end of the cigarette - which still looked like a cigarette. THAT liquid is brown, not clear, ha ha! Anyway, vaping nicotine makes a difference again. I've smoked a lot fewer cigarettes today than I did yesterday - and without much frustration. Although the weird mix of melon, Carolina Bold and cherry leaves a weird taste in my mouth! Ha Ha!
I didn't do much today. Cuddled mippies a lot - but Mewthos went beyond my patience! Not sure how much cuddles he needs, but always more than I can handle! I wonder if he goes on the other mippies nerves when I'm not at home? Tonight he was not much of a nuisance, probably took it all out on me throughout the day! Janey came for an extended cuddle session again - needed to take a stroll along my arms again, which is tricky now that she's too big for that! I have to sit in the armchair, then she can stroll across my chest from arm to arm - almost like she could as a kitten! She misses that! I know, because she often walks onto my shoulder and from there onto my back and then ... I can only bend forward ... and she's on my back, but can't walk back onto my shoulder or onto my arm anymore.
I have a very bad feeling about the future ... many of us are optimistically hoping to go to Level 3 at the end of May, hoping we'll just have to hang in for a 2 more weeks - then we can buy cigarettes (& alcohol) again. In the beginning there was some sort of sense involved: stop the spread of the virus, flatten the curve, then go back to normal. Well, the virus is still spreading in South Africa, even though the whole country is locked down. It's been 7 weeks! With an incubation period of 2-3 weeks, everybody who had the virus BEFORE the lock-down, has either recovered or been tested by now. So, community transmission is not under control - which my simple mind translates to: testing and tracing is not effective.
Whatever the reason, the lock-down no longer serves the ONLY purpose WE KNOW about! By now, most of us just want to know when we can start some form of living again - and accept without question the pronouncement of Levels of lock-down. Which, given the circumstances, makes no sense. At least, not to me. They started on a good foot, with the information session, giving us all the information and details - and most of all, giving us assurance that there is qualified scientific rationale behind decisions. They lost all trust and good will with the U-turn on the sale of cigarettes - because to date they have not provided one single valid reason! Not one! Instead, we are now being threatened 'to behave, or else'; given NO information, and on top of that, instead of easing restrictions, more restrictions are added - restrictions which are getting more irrational, even laughable, by the minute! I mean, seriously: No short-sleeve tops may be sold, unless they are to be worn under a long-sleeve top?!? No open-toed shoes!?! What utter, unbelievable tosh!
At the moment, one person has absolute power - with no check, not answerable to anyone, and no process for approval. All 'laws' are simply gazetted, finished and klaar (= done and dusted). No reason, no justification, no discussion necessary - and nobody can question her. And THAT is a serious problem! Fortunately, the DA is going to try to go to court and question this lack of process ... but there is no guarantee that they'll even get a date! Nor whether that date will be this year, still ... just like FITA's court case about the ban on the sale of cigarettes: they've been successfully stalled - and they're powerless to put any pressure on the court process. They've done all they could ... now their hands are temporarily tied.
I enjoyed my pizza today, though. I didn't do much else in the kitchen, until late tonight, when I baked another batch of muffins. I added lots of chocolate this time! Turned out lovely!
Mippies came in without too much of a wait - Ziva was last, but she came running just as I went inside. I had taken a shower early as I washed my hair - which is now so long, it takes time to dry! Since it's winter now, and today was especially cold, I don't want to go to bed with wet hair. After their treat, mippies all curled up and went quietly to sleep - no mewls, no drama, no mips, no demands ... happy, quiet mippies!
I'm thinking of baking some cookies tomorrow ... no promises, though ...
