Sorry to be opening with politics, but I came across an interesting article last night. Our Minister of Finance opposes the ban on alcohol & cigarette sales :) Not surprising.
Oh, and the numbers last night: 197127 tested, 5350 confirmed, 2073 recovered, 103 deaths.
I woke at five, courtesy of mippies. But I steadfastly turned over and stayed in bed till around seven, he he. I let them out, they ran about like mippies will and then, around eight they all somehow found their way back inside ... so I took advantage and shut them in. Then I went out to get milk. Shame, the farmers son is also stuck in South Africa during the lock-down. They told him he could fly home on 3rd May, then, this morning, he was told: "No! Earliest anyone will be allowed to leave is 3rd June!"
Back at home, mippies happily ran outside again and stayed away for a few hours this time. No problem, though. Internet is still slow, and just doing the basic in my game took hours! Not much fun. And that's when the signal strength claims to be full power ...
All of South Africa is outraged at the cigarette ban, other than that, nothing interesting in the news. Apparently. Well, petrol prices have dropped again - but what use is that? Lots of people are taking advantage of the 'permission to exercise' - predictably, everybody is out, along the same roads, at the same time. 3 hours a day - what did they expect?
I didn't do much this morning, just tried playing my game, watching X-Files and running after mippies who want cuddles! Yes, they make me run after them ... Mewthos as far as half way through the garden! No, I don't know why.
I've started washing the dishes - I've accumulated quite a lot of those, by now. It's the pots and bowls I use for baking, mostly. I've decided to fry myself a pair of Käsegriller for dinner, I'm enjoying the rolls for breakfast, although they're somewhat heavy. I added bacon cubes and cheese to the dough. And if I'm still hungry after the Käsegriller, I can either have another muffin - they turned out nicely - and if that's not enough, I decided to scramble some eggs. Now that I know I can get more eggs any time, I don't have to save them for the much needed muffins. Those muffins are my chocolate-dose ... nowhere near as good as the peanut cups, nor ... oh my gosh! I wish I could get some of Rose's daughters cookies now! They are sooooo delicious! My mouth is watering now, just thinking of them! Sigh ...
Mippies are sleeping on the armchair now. Ziva loves to be held, and Mewthos always sleeps with his arm around Ziva! Right now, she's sharing the chair with Janey, though.
And now I've had enough of the kitchen, so I stopped washing dishes. There's not much left, but yeah, I didn't finish, I simply quit. Make of that what you will, ha ha!
Dinner is covered, I've got rolls and muffins, all 'must do's are done ... I think I'll take a nap.
Part of me wants to get back to work, back to some sort of normal - but another part, naturally, wants to stay at home for a few more weeks ... part of me wants to go back to normal smoking, then stomp into a shop demanding my constitutional right to buy cigarettes ... yeah, like I'm the only one, eh? I'm still fortunate, in that I still have cigarettes ...
Enjoyed a lovely nap, albeit on my own - no mippies came to snuggle. I had set the cheese to drip dry before my nap, and didn't let it drip too long. Now I've got a lovely, creamy batch of cheese to look forward to! And some more dishes tomorrow, ha ha!
As expected, there will be court cases about this unexpected ban of cigarette sales, most promising is the one by Johann Rupert. Should be interesting to watch - fortunately I still have enough data to keep watching!
I forgot to mention, I woke up sometime during the night with Sir Galahad at my window ... just sitting there, staring at me ... like I'm some toy he hid behind bars!
Mippies are now in, except Ziva. She came when I first called, then, while we were waiting for Janey, she walked off down the driveway to who knows where. Janey didn't let us wait for long, either ... not sure what her deal is. I've brought the others inside and gave them tonight's ration. When Ziva comes, I have nothing left to give ... sorry.
Ziva's home, I had my Käsegriller - mippies didn't want any part of that. Now I'm running myself a soothing mustard bath. Funny, eh? I thought so as well, but it's mostly eucalyptus. My lower back is still sore, so I'm hoping this will help.
I also meant to take out the feather duvet today, as it's getting cold at night now. Didn't get that far, though - and now I'm too lazy. Just going to bath, relax, then sleep.
Well, I bathed all alone - no supervision, no patrolling, no company. Relaxing, though! Then I played my game ... which took flippin' ages, as both internet and my PC are not very fast. Ziva threw up in the passage - not sure what, as she missed munchies. Mini toppled something clattering in the lounge - mippies been busy!
And just to end the day on a political not: NDZ is warning us that she'll put us back on Level 5, if 'we don't behave' ... like we're children, and hers to command! Honestly ... WTF?
Today's numbers: 207530 tested, 5647 confirmed, 2073 recovered, 103 deaths.
