Lock-down Day 47

I don't know what to say. 47 Days in the Twilight Zone? It still feels THAT bizarre! It doesn't feel NEW and definitely not NORMAL ... people are calling this the new normal. Some of the changes will be good, I'm sure. Like eCommerce - more business are now selling online, more goods available for delivery, less need to go into stores. For some retailers, that will be bad ... well, I'm afraid, considering what 'service' we receive in most stores - big or small - I'm afraid, I can't really find a f&^% to give. But people are already so distant ... so much time spent in each other's company - distanced by gadgets? Maybe, now that THAT's what people are told to do, they WANT to spend more quality time together? I'm wondering about some families, for example, who have NEVER sat down for a meal together - do they sit down and talk to each other now? Or do they still take their plate and each sit in front of their own TV, or whatever gadget?

Anyway, I'm afraid I didn't write my blog on Day 47, as I got side-tracked. I had some other writing to get done - for my game - and that took most of the day. Writing doesn't come easy to me ... it's not like the words are all there and I just need to type them out. Writing this blog is the easiest writing for me, since I don't have to worry about how it is received. Anyone reading this either knows me or has got to know me through this blog, and in 3 years, over 800 posts I have a total of 6 comments and 1 Follower, so I feel fairly safe to say whatever I want :)

Well, sometimes I do wonder just WHO reads this blog? And what do they think of it? I rarely get any feedback ...

So, between that other writing and my mippies, I was fairly busy all day. Janey disappeared in the morning - which only worried me, because I had heard a cat fight and all my other mippies came to let me know they were okay; Janey didn't. After 3 hours I got frantic and shrieked her name rather than called ... and she did a visual stroll-by! Didn't come home, or near me, just strolled across the lawn outside my garden. Well, I was really relieved!

I got my milk and back, no trouble. Mini caught a pigeon ... I managed to take it off her and put it in a box. But pigeons, unlike mice, move about in the box, wanting to get out ... I had quite a time keeping the poor thing safe from Mewthos and Mini! Poor thing was hurt, but no broken wings ... I'm afraid I wasn't able to check its legs (I did see it walking without any trouble, later - but it seemed to have some trouble gripping a branch to sit on). I had my hands full keeping it out of reach, giving it time to heal ... I think it lost an eye, too. I'm sorry, my eyes had to be on the cats, not the bird. It took a long time, and some extreme trickery on my part to be able to set the bird free, safely! It flew up into a tree, but couldn't seem to sit on the branch, so it came back to the ground. It walked around the garden for a while ... and I think it must have flown off, because I haven't seen it, since. Well, I hope so!

I'm afraid I smoked rather a lot, yesterday, as I always do when I'm writing tough stuff. I was back at the one-per-hour cycle. Part of me just hopes that the ban on the sale of cigarettes is over before I run out! And part of me chides me for being such a naive fool!

At this stage, the sale of alcohol is definitely allowed in Level 3 - albeit limited hours - but the sale of cigarettes is still being discussed. There's a lot of fallacious reasoning, based on surveys that even a child can see through - nothing scientific about it! Just look at the data on which they base their %! And the dates, too! Remember, these surveys were taken in APRIL and ALL before the U-turn! Also, you're surveying 'illegal' activities (buying alcohol & cigarettes) just how ACCURATE can such a survey be?

Anyway, the Coronacast from the DA was interesting, as they interviewed eCommere owners, BidOrBuy, YuppieChef (I buy from them, too), and PayFast. They pointed out a lot of incongruities in government's regulations - seriously, what government considers 'essential' and 'non-essential' is really NOT. That's why they refer to it as 'allowed' vs ' not allowed' because replacing a kettle, or repairing a washing machine can't be called 'non-essential' with a straight face!

When I measured my belt, to see how far it is ... I was surprised to see it finally fit all the way around my waist! That's a looooong way to go, trust me! So, now I need to figure out how to finish the belt :D Way hay!

I washed the dishes and cooked myself another steak - but also steamed some potatoes! I don't know which I enjoyed more, the steak or the potatoes!

I didn't see an update on the numbers in my news feed, so here they are from the government website again:

369 697 tested, 11 350 confirmed, 4 357 recovered, 206 deaths.

Mewthos was being a real nuisance again last night - sirening through the whole flat, then sitting down, staring at me, mewling ... and when I get up, he runs off! He likes to play catch! Last night I cheated, I used a broom Ha Ha Ha! He HATES the broom! They all do - though I don't know why.
