Lock-down Day 38

I struggled to go to sleep last night, probably because I took a nap yesterday afternoon. Mewthos came to snuggle under the duvet with me for a long time! Purring up a storm while I scratched his ears, then later just held his paws. Mini investigated the activity by walking over Mewthos (outside the duvet) then scratching to get under the duvet, herself. At one time, I had both of them snuggling under the duvet. Fortunately I have 2 hands, so I could scratch ears and tickle tummies.

I eventually went to sleep, woke about twenty to six and got up at seven.

Well, since nothing has changed since yesterday, I'm not going to rant again. In the various Facebook groups I've joined since the lock-down, it's clear that South Africans are getting angry. The Cigarette ban is just the last straw ... it's getting ugly. Worst of all, the government has prohibited ANY group from helping starving South Africans - all help must go through their hands. Despicable! I can't find the link to any of the news articles regarding this at the moment ... I also read that anyone under 18 years is not allowed in malls, from more than 1 person, but haven't been able to verify that, either.

I did a load of laundry today, and that's about all I achieved. I spent the rest of the day in the game, making short term productions for the current Fellowship Adventure. With the internet AND my PC so slow, it's taking forever to get anything done. Somewhat frustrating, teaching me lots of patience - especially since mippies continuously come for cuddles and games. Mewthos, in particular, comes inside then leads me outside through half the garden, mewling all the way, wanting me to follow then pick him up. He's such a ham!

The DA just published the updated numbers:
245747 tested, 6783 confirmed, 2549 recovered, 131 deaths.

They, like me, want more transparency on those numbers. Unlike me, they can then interpret those numbers in line with the appropriate lock down level. Not that it will make any difference - there is no oversight, no accountability, no responsibility ... and I'm afraid there won't be in the foreseeable future.

I chatted with a friend of mine today, she's having a hard time with withdrawal - she's run out of cigarettes. She's got gum, but ... well, I know myself that that doesn't help much. I can only hope we'll get to a level where we'll be allowed to buy cigarettes again, soon! I have little hope for any legal action - there is no justice in South Africa ...

Anyway, mippies came in without much trouble. We had to wait for Ziva again, and she got told off by Mewthos, Janey and Mini about it, ha ha! They enjoyed their wet food - I'm thinking of making my own. Maybe mix it with the sachets for a while, get them changed over slowly. It should be a lot cheaper - and they don't really NEED the sachets. They get all the nutrients and vitamins and stuff they need from the kibbles.

I enjoyed a very hot bath, with Mewthos on guard. He curled up on the mat next to the bath. Afterwards he went into play mode, running off into the lounge, expecting me to follow ... then hiding under the desk, where I can't reach. I lured him out with the pink fish, ha ha! Ziva enjoyed playing with that on the armchair - Mewthos? Not so much. But I could catch him while he looked at it, then hold him so tight till he squealed, ha ha!

Ziva demanded hyper attention in her shelf - no, she won't come out, I must stretch and scratch her ears in the far back of the shelf! The two of them are now curled up on the armchair, Janey and Mini are curled up on my bed. When I get into bed, Janey will leave, though. She always does. Then comes back a little later, wanting to get under the duvet ... she'll crawl all the way through until she comes out by my feet again, ha ha!

I'm not hungry, even though I haven't eaten much today. I've had a muffin and a bread roll. Still the bacon & cheese rolls. I'll have to bake more tomorrow ...
