Lock-down Day 48

Ziva insisted I open the door this morning. She'll sit nearby and mip her 'Ziva-mip' letting me know that she had a need, which I must please take care of! Whether it's ear-scratching, tummy-tickling or door-opening :) I tend to oblige.

When I tried to get up, I found that Mini was not only spread across my feet, but carefully wrapped in Mewthos' twirly! Ha Ha Ha, looks like he twirlied right across her and she got covered, looking snug and happy!

When I tried to check the news, I found the Jacaranda FM website gone! Just a pale purple screen with a message 'There's nothing here, yet' and a button 'build something amazing'!

I'm trying to abstain from nicotine again, today. It's now nine and I'm dying for a cigarette ... but I'm just sucking my vape like an idiot! Coffee helps, too, but I can't keep drinking that all day - it's too expensive. And the cheaper version doesn't work for me. Sigh.

I see some news on Facebook - people posting links to news articles - and apparently the ANC is childishly bashing the DA. Clearly they neither read nor heard WHAT the DA said, but just 'watched the movie' type of thing. You know, where you summarise the highlights of a book and the director has to interpret it, so you don't get the author's message, but the director's message? (Not bashing movies, nor going into the movies vs books debate here).

I watched the Coronacast yesterday, and what the DA is actually saying is to open the economy where that can be done safely! All of it, that can be opened safely. Like eCommerce, for example. But the ANC likes to play the failed card of 'economy vs lives' - which is no longer the case. The ANC is doing ALL the things they accuse the DA of! And worse! Maybe the ferocity of the ANC is an indication of the effectiveness of the DA? That would make sense ...

And now I see that apparently our Minister of Trade and Industry has gazetted not only WHAT clothing we may buy, but HOW we must wear it? Huh? That just can't be true ... can it? It looks like it's true ... just when you thought things couldn't get more bizarre! Patel is the same twit who announced cooked hot food was illegal - and NDZ quickly jumped into his lap, and made it official. Seriously, how imbecilic!

The cat food company just called! I've been wondering what's holding up my order - turns out it's the Iams Multi-cat ... they don't have 8 kg, and can't seem to source it, either. We agreed that they send me 3kg, as I'm hesitant to try a different flavour. After all, I'M the one who has to wipe it off my bed, my chair, my floor or wherever mippies throw it up ... So, 3 kg is better than nothing, plus they have the Orijen. It should be delivered this week - so another trip to work ...

Saw an article that thieves broke into a mortuary ... and another article of Trevor Manuel 's view of the current regulations.

Ten o'clock ... I gave in and had a cigarette. Sigh. Well, I held out for 3 1/2 hours! Not too bad. I feel a little light-headed now ... but I smoke it till the end, even if I faint from it! Muhaaahaaa!

Smoked a cigarette per hour today. Sigh. There's some hopeful talk of Level 3 soon, and the ban on the sale of cigarettes lifted then. I'm not holding my breath, but I'll hope!

I cut and packed the meat I had bought on Monday and also wrote a list of what's in the freezer. One thing is obvious, too: I'll have to defrost my freezer soon! Sigh - not sure how I'll manage that, though. I've had to use 2 bags just to pack the dirty pads & shrink wrap - and that after I had washed it as much as I could! Ah well, it's done now - now I can take my time to decide what to cook when and how.

I cut up some of the potatoes and fried them for my dinner tonight. I'm afraid, I'm too lazy to do anything fancy today. Like bake bread or muffins - though I really should, ha ha! I'm going to have to get into the kitchen and tidy up as well - I still haven't found space to pack all the flour I bought!

Well, we're having another parole hearing tonight - confirmed at 20:30 tonight. Unlike other countries, we're not being informed or updated on anything - so he's got to have something to announce. Lots are hoping for Level 3 and cigarettes. So am I. I just wonder whether it's really worth spending my data to watch it ... after all, we'll first have to wait whether Zuma approves or refuses whatever the president announces.

Some people speculate that cigarettes will be sold - simply to avoid the court case. I think that's wishful thinking! Since when does any Zuma worry about court? They do what they want with impunity!

Oh, and for some fun, Trevor Manuel also calls the clothing specifications irrational! Well, they are - not just irrational but absolutely ridiculous! And there's an update on the case to lift the ban on the sale of cigarettes.

Lady Jane was the naughty one tonight, coming along only after I had shut the gate and given out tonight's treats. I gave them some of the lamb pate I got on Monday - they seem to like it a lot!

I enjoyed a lovely hot bath, and then waited for our 'fake news announcer'.

Hmm ... I'm struggling to find any substance in the address by our president. He did promise increased transparency, more explanations for the decisions and that Level 3 will hopefully be announced at the end of May. I'm sorry, but I'll believe any of that when I see it. When we asked for transparency - none was offered. We asked for explanations and were presented with garbage. Oh, and he mentioned that gender-based violence has increased at an alarming rate ... which I'm convinced is also linked to the ban on the sale of cigarettes. I know from personal experience that lack of nicotine makes me irrational and aggressive - I only shout at mippies to stop harassing me for cuddles; I'm working on that. But if that's MY reaction - imagine someone used to taking out his frustration with no-holds-barred!

Anyway ... time for bed.
