Since I didn't do any housework yesterday, I have to move my rear to catch up. First thing, I've put the washing in the machine - and hope like blazes that the thing spins and drains!
Mini is tearing around like a pinball, bouncing off the walls, skidding around, knocking everything askew. She's getting on quite well with Mewthos now, only my ladies still hiss at her. But Mewthos is such a love bug - who can resist him? LOL his mother, for one! She still swats at him when he gets too lovey dovey.
I've been playing door- and window-man for the past hour. Sigh. Mini started licking my face very early again, but I've found that, if I hold my hand in front of my face, she'll lick that, instead. Right now Mewthos and Mini are settling on the bed - not quite together, but close enough. I've fed the little one a couple of times already - I didn't give her any mousse, yesterday, so I can give her one tin today and the last one tomorrow. She's not yet keen on chewing and will start by cleaning all the gravy or jelly out of her bowl - I indulge her, and I've ordered more mousse so she can fatten up a bit.
Janey has just come in - again - it's only nine, but I think they're settling for their Siesta? Hyper active from four in the morning, then Siesta, followed by another burst of hyper activity.
The keyboard on the PC isn't working properly - sometimes it doubles letters, sometimes it misses them - so I'm now typing the blog on the laptop.
Some sad - nay, I'd say tragic - news: I ate my last cookie today! I'm very sad about that. There's no way I can bake anything near as delicious, nor are there any cookies available here which I'd like to even try ... everything will just pale by comparison. The store-bought one's here are simply too hard to be enjoyable. So ... my cookie days are over. Sniff!
Some good news, just for balance: the laundry spun and drained. Well, not as it should, I had to run a rinse & spin followed by a drain & spin. I got lucky and it worked. I've hung it outside anyway, so it should be dry early afternoon.
Next, I want to bake. I still have dough for two rolls, plus I took a loaf of bread out of the freezer last night and I also want some chocolate chip muffins. For lunch today, I will make Geschnetzeltes - which is basically just meat (preferably veal) cut into little bits, fried and with a sauce. Spaetzle go nicely with that.
Yeah, on the laptop, I can't type the German letters with the Umlaut. On the PC I just type them with alt+ the numbers on the number-keypad, the laptop doesn't have a number keypad. My new one did, the one that was stolen .... sigh.
Mippies all helped hang up the washing! Even Ziva came to help. Sigh. Kitties don't go well with clean laundry, ha ha! I've anchored the stand with a flower pot, one of the big ones, so it shouldn't fall over.
I also still need to wash the dishes - I've been lazy all week. But before I do that, I'd like the baking and cooking done, so that those dishes also get washed. The floors are still reasonably clean - I'll just need to sweep and do some spot-washing. Like, where the mippies drop the dinner I share with them - they like to eat off the floor, for some reason.
During my shopping yesterday, I also came across some 'plastic' bags, but not made of plastic! If I remember correctly, they were made of bamboo? I've ordered some, to see which of my 'plastic' they can replace. I'm going green as much as I can - since we don't use the municipal waste removal (well, it's not available out here), my landlord recycles anything that can be recycles. What can't be recycled, he burns. So very little ends up on a landfill.
I drive past a landfill on my way to work every day and boy does that place pong! I've made it a habit to have my windows closed when I come past there - it's really bad. So I feel that anything biodegradable, even if it does cost a little more, is a good thing. Like I said, I'm slowly, but surely going green.
I've replaced the lunch bags with paper bags, I'm now replacing the bread bags with a bread bin. So, if I can also replace the litter bags, that will make a big difference. I know that I will have a use for them, so I didn't pay too much attention to their size - but maybe they can replace even more. I still have a stash of plastic to use up - but progress is being made.
Mippies are inside, once again. No, they didn't Siesta at nine - hopefully that's what they are doing now, though. As long as I don't go out - for a smoke - they're happy to stay inside. Janey is sitting atop the dresser watching me type away.
Ziva brought a mouse in yesterday. She had caught it, brought it in and then lost it in the lounge. Poor thing is now hiding behind my boxes ... sigh, probably chewing through my books. Grrr. I'm not at all happy about it, but what can I do? I really can't be moving the boxes today.
Mippies are outside - again! Sigh. I went for a smoke and a walk around the garden. Mippies mipped to come out,g Ziva followed me on the walk and rolled around the dirt wanting me to tickle her tummy! I couldn't find a clean place to touch her - she covered herself with those tiny leaves and dirt! Roly poly over and over again. Mipping at me for lovies!
I'm already tired now, and hungry. I haven't had breakfast, yet, even though it's now past eleven. The rolls are rising, when they're ready, I can start baking. I'll have a roll while I wait.
Janey just came in - she thinks she's still a little kitten! She mipped to be picked up and then took a stroll on my shoulder and onto my arms. That was no problem when she was mini's size, but now? She stands on my neck and cuts off my air! Well, not quite, but she does have me coughing. I indulge her, though - she doesn't do that all that often, and it's something she needs to be reassured that I still love her as much as ever!
I'm beginning to wonder whether four cats was smart, after all, ha ha! They really do keep me busy on weekends. The little one absolutely adores all the toys she's finding here - mousey is still her favourite, though. She loves the chaise scratcher - unlike Ziva, she doesn't simply lie in it, but uses it to sharpen her claws. She found Mewly's wurmpie and I'm finding it in all sorts of places now. She also loves the track with the ball in it - I hear her playing with that quite a lot. Even Ziva joins her sometimes, as does Mewthos. Ziva keeping her distance, though - sitting at the other end of the track. The fluffy ball is also moving around the flat - as are my shoes! Anything not on my feet gets knocked about and sent skidding across the floor.
The bread is cooling, the rolls are in the oven, the muffins are in their tray waiting to get their turn in the oven. I went outside and checked on my washing - half was already dry, as it should be! I shouldn't be 'giving up' by four in the afternoon and taking it in, whether it's totally dry or still damp in some spots. It should take only an hour or two to dry - like it is today.
Ziva came inside and demanded time in her cuddle cave, Mewthos came out of the cat carrier and - playing the lava game - crossed over to the sleeper couch (not touching the ground, but jumping from the bed, to the Ottoman, to the couch) where he's curled up and napping now. Janey is on my chair, mini next to me on the bed and now Ziva is curling up in the cat carrier.
I've taken to kissing the mini's face, he he he. See how she likes getting her face licked! Well, no, I don't lick, of course! He He He she doesn't like it too much! Maybe my face will get a rest soon. After all, I'm not putting condiments on my face in the name of beauty. No herbs, spices, vegetables or fruit - none of which should attract cats in any case - I use just plain Nivea.
I took a nap, and then I took another nap. For some reason the PC now won't connect to the internet ... Sigh. Fortunately, I'm no slave to online - somewhat addicted to my game, but not so that I'll loose my marbles if I can't get in.
I've washed the dishes, showered and brought my mippies in and gave the mini some mousse.
I think mini has a name now: Tynx! I was trying to think of something that conveys playful, hyperactive, licky, loving, purring ... and then I remembered Tinkerbell! He and Mynx nearly burned down my flat one day when they were both still small and playing. They knocked the clip-on lamp off my headboard, had the bulb face the curtains and then switched it on! I came home to the smell of something burning - the curtain was smoldering, fortunately it hadn't burst into flames, yet! Poor Tinkerbell got run over, I'm afraid. Also a male cat, tiger-striped like Mewthos. Tinkerbell also used to nuzzle my neck and lick my face. And changing the spelling combines Tinks with Mynx. Only a girl could take on the task of two males!
I'm going to try it out and see if it sticks. Tynx. What do you think?
I didn't make the Geschnetzeltes, even though it isn't much work, but I still had the pork chop from Friday which I hadn't eaten, yet. To quote Sybill Ramkin "It needed eating up" I can make the other dish tomorrow. Since I don't have veal, I'm using a Schnitzel. I also didn't clean the floors ... lazy cow that I am! Ha ha!
Well, it's work again tomorrow ... I had better cuddle mippies tonight so they won't mope too much while I'm away. My landlady tells me she rarely hears them - so they are not crying all day. Good to know. After all, that's why I have more than one cat - so they can entertain each other!
Tuesday will be fun, when two of my deliveries arrive. The one order plus the cat food will arrive Tuesday - I suppose the other stuff will come on Thursday or Friday again.
