I had a good night's sleep and woke up early. It was unexpectedly warm today, when I left at six it was already eleven degrees! As I drove, when I got to the 'cold spot' it was still 8 1/2 degrees, and when I parked at work 10 1/2 degrees.
At work, I'm feeling so much more at ease ... I realised it's simply because I no longer have to work for two! I can simply do my work, without having to micro-manage my sole employee and without constant worry of what I'll find next. I also had a chat with our HR, illuminating her to just how we've been played. I also asked how the situation would have played out if the genders were reversed - and would you know, that exact same thing HAS happened, not very long ago - and the woman no longer works here!
I also learned that the reason most staff gave for not wanting to work in the store started with 'he says ...' as in, what my ex storeman said. Yet it was relayed to me as 'nobody wants to work with you'! Anyway, I feel better.
On the way home I wondered "does the sun set so much later already? It's not even been a week since the solstice?" Turns out that I was just early! I left a few minutes early and got lucky and missed the traffic. Mippies confirmed that I was unexpectedly early, when not a one sat in the kitchen window on the lookout for my arrival! Ziva showed up when I rattled the gate, though. So they were all 'on their marks' and 'set' to zoom, zoom, zoom! when I opened the passage door.
Oh, and I found out why I'm out of airtime: since my contract 'expired' such a long time ago, they've now cancelled it or something. They've wiped all the airtime which had rolled over from past months. So now I'd better figure out what I'll do. First, though, I had better make sure my number won't be cancelled. Sigh. It really is NOT my week, is it?
Well, I've packed the PC into the car, hopefully a colleague can help - I asked him today, he said he'll gladly help, work permitting.
I had dinner tonight - but I don't have any bread left to make lunch for tomorrow, so I'm packing the leftover dinner. I've also got everything ready to start baking a loaf tomorrow - I'll try the same thing I did last week, only, this time, I'll start it, too!
Right now mippies are insisting it is time I tend to them ....
