Thursday

A good night, but I woke up late for some reason.

Our company has no real problem with people coming late, as long as you notify them. Funny, that. Being one minute late will result in 15 minutes deducted off your pay. Which applies only to some employees - we no longer work with wages and salaries, but we do differentiate between hourly and ... I don't know how the rest of us are classified. Anyway, back to the 'rules'. Being one minute late for several days in a row COULD result in a 'talk' - but only if it's an unusual behaviour. Some people come late every single day with no consequences. However, if you come even one minute late and you did not notify management - that is cause for disciplinary action!

Oh, and it's not 'management' as in YOUR manager, but you must inform HR. HR may or may not inform the relevant manager - that is somehow not important (like, when my storeman calls in late, I may or may not be informed). It depends on whether the relevant manager happens to come near HR - if not, HR certainly won't come to the relevant manager, nor send a mail or communicate in any way.

So, since I rarely come late, IF I wake up a little late, I simply send an SMS to HR and then carry on with my morning routine - no need to rush! Whether I'm one minute late or an hour late makes no difference. Not to HR and since I'm not paid per hour, it makes no difference to me, either. Funny way of operating, isn't it?

Anyway, I was only one minute late, after all. And, as I said, it's a rare occasion.

At work I'm left pretty much to do my own thing, so I'm still working on those Delivery Notes. Capturing the past data is a bit of a mission - so, for now, I'm only capturing the past DN Numbers and dates ... and it looks as if the 'system' is to start a new folder for each delivery address and start with the same delivery note numbers! So far, I've found 5x DN 1001 - sent on different dates to different companies! And the fun part is: IT'S STILL HAPPENING! The latest DN 1001 is dated 29 March 2019!  And another one dated 30 January 2019! I don't know what to say ...

Oh! What a lovely surprise! I just got mail from our electrician (from the PE project) asking whether I'd be interested in working for them on a project in East London! Such a pity that I had to decline ... But I look forward to seeing him, when he's in Pretoria, in August!

My groceries still haven't arrived, I think I should make peace with the possibility that I may only get it on Monday. I'm not really keen on that idea - but I should accept it. IF it arrives earlier - whoopee!

I went with our driver to the Nursery to get the compost my landlord asked for - and found out that they gladly take the bags back, so gladly, they even give a discount when you bring them back! Funny how the other driver didn't mention that ... he's definitely not the brightest bulb in the chandelier!

I've just checked on my order, apparently it was dispatched Wednesday night, but hasn't moved since ... it should have arrived today, I would have thought. Or at least moved somewhere sometime during the day.

And now, I think I'll sit with my mippies for a while before going to bed ...
