Tuesday

I woke up around midnight and it was past one before I could go back to sleep, as I was wide awake - no clue why. At least I didn't oversleep so I enjoyed a leisurely morning coffee before going off to work.

Nice! My Bread Maker has just arrived! I've put it in my car, but took the Manual out to browse during lunch time.

That store cupboard is a nightmare! I'm beginning to see light, though ... just: seriously? Three years operating and this is the state? Sigh.

Uh uh! Slight problem ... the thing must stand on a flat, heat-resistant surface ... I'll have to ask whether the counter tops are suitable. If not, I'll ask for a granite slab to use.

Urgh! I've just done the third stock take of that cupboard and each time I come up with different numbers! Frustrating - especially to someone as meticulous as myself! So, how is that possible? Simple, when you're trying to take stock of items that are difficult to identify (not everything has labels! And what labels there are, don't always match the data on the spreadsheet I've been given! And the spreadsheet is a mess - items duplicated, descriptions mixed up, you name it, I'm dealing with it!). Also, I'm dealing with specialised technical items - I'm not in the least familiar with any of them. So, before I place an order, I'd like to be sure of my number ... I'll have to do yet another stock take. Tomorrow!

On the way home I filled up the car - prices going up again tomorrow. Sigh.

Back at home we had a normal evening out. I'm counting the days to the Solstice! I'm ready for more daylight and tired of getting less and less every day. Speaking of which, apparently the electricity went off just as I left for work this morning and only came back around noon! I'm told the problem was throughout Pretoria, some sub-station having difficulties again. Lucky for me, I missed it.

I also asked about a surface for my Bread Maker - no problem! I also learned from my landlady that I have the first Bean growing! I can't wait to see it myself - but that'll need daylight, so I'll have to wait until the weekend. I did, however, manage to see the second Cosmos in flower, as well as two yellow Nasturtium!

I treated mippies as usual, then had my own dinner - one bite for me, one bit cut in three distributed among mippies! I love the way Mewthos stands up to carefully sniff the food, then twists his head to find a position to take the meat off my fingers without hurting me!

Janey is happy with two, three pieces. Ziva is a tricky one - some days she insists to take the morsels off my fingers, other days she turns in disgust if I offer it to her by hand. Some days she's happy to eat off the chair, other days she stalks off in disgust if I put her food on the chair. It's a daily challenge to treat her!

And then, getting to watch her play with the fluffy ball which came off their little scratch-toy? Priceless!

I've run out of chocolate. Last night I tried some pecan nuts - but they're past their best-before date. So, tonight, I've opened my Nutella and dug in with a teaspoon. I don't know why I'm suddenly craving chocolate again - I hope it'll pass!

I also finished the last of the loaf of bread today - don't ask me what I'll take to work on Thursday and Friday! I'm planning on some pasta cooking.

Oh, and before I forget: I opened the box of the Bread Maker and found a packet of Yeast inside! Nice, eh?
