Relaxed Saturday

I'm having trouble getting started today, my Mewlarm didn't go off this morning, so I only woke when my alarm went off. I let mippies out, who rushed enthusiastically into the cold outdoors ... while I retreated into the slightly warmer indoors.

Janey came to insist I tend to her, preferably by picking her up for a cuddle, then letting her down for a stroll, then picking her up for more cuddles ... repeat ad infinitum! She does not get tired!

When Janey had finally been satisfied, it was Ziva's turn to mip her demands. I ended up sitting on the bed tending to Ziva's cuddle cave for quite some time. And then I thought I heard a cat cry in distress outside - looking out the window, I saw a strange little dog ... my mind went into fear-for-Mewthos mode! Sigh, he IS the reason for every single grey hair! I went outside and started looking for Mewthos ... and looking and calling and looking and calling and .... repeat until frantic mode is reached.

When I've walked nearly the entire place, Mew finally showed up! He really does like to try me! I still don't know where they go or where they hide or which are their favourite places, and the place is large. Sigh.

It is still cold, but in the sun it's bearable. So I figure that's a good time to start watering the garden - it desperately needs it! I pick another single pod of peas - this time with five peas. I see some beans doing okay as well, but the Broad Beans are dying. I'll wait for Spring before I re-sow. The tomatoes seem to be doing very well, though! All green and growing tall! The Zucchini don't look to well, though. I'm hoping for better results in Spring!

The grow nuts are not doing anything, though. So much for 'open it, throw it, grow it', eh? Neither the Gazania nor the single Protea show any change.

I puttered around somewhat while waiting for temperatures to rise to something bearable, I've packed away the non-perishable shopping and I've just started a loaf of bread. I decided to give a french loaf a try for a change! When I put the rye flour away, I noticed that the packet is torn, I'm afraid. So I'll have to find some alternate container. I hope the ice cream containers will suffice, since I don't have anything else.

Grin, and what do I do once temperatures are bearable? Simple, I take a nap! Ha Ha! Well, I made up for that after getting up, of course. I've descaled the kettle, got my water filter out again and set that up, oh, and I've got a pot of goulash cooking. The french loaf looks good, I'll have to see when I slice it. I've also washed the dishes.

Tomorrow I'll have to do the laundry, today I'm also descaling the washing machine. I've packed away all the meat and bread into the freezer, except for the Aufschnitt, that still has to be re-packed and put in the freezer - I fear I may be a little low on space? I don't want to risk a drawer getting stuck again!

The goulash was delicious and I still have enough left for tomorrow. Then my mippies came in and I treated them with the new tins - they loved them! The tins are small and for their size quite expensive, but they are filled with recognisable chicken - not mushed into pellets, but shredded chicken. All three bowls are licked so clean, you'd think they haven't eaten at all!

I enjoyed a lovely hot bath and then I curled up under the duvet - mippies joined me. I took the mouse and mousepad to bed, so I could set up next episodes to watch from the bed - and THAT is why I like a wireless mouse! It's like a remote for a TV. All three mippies were on the bed with me, washing each other, getting their ears scratched, and I had also brought myself a bar of chocolate. Yeah, I still can't do without! It was a dark chocolate tonight, and I didn't finish the enitre bar - so, maybe there is hope? Ha ha!
