Wednesday

Mid-week already! That's good news. I slept well, so well that I woke up early. Sigh. All my life my mornings were purely to get dressed and go, having a cup of coffee in between - this new 'having time in the mornings' is strange. I don't know what to do with my time. Well, Ziva helped by demanding ear scratches. Mippies were bouncing off the walls this morning, such a pity they are stuck inside all day.

Work is busy but stress free. I did one more stock take on that storage cupboard and most of the numbers matched this time, so I'm confident of my inventory. Finally! I also verified the information against the suppliers catalogues which I found online. It's somewhat difficult with all that technical data which is like a foreign language to me - strange thing for an engineer to say, eh?

When that was done, I got to work on one of those spreadsheets - making out a simple delivery note is such a complex thing here, because the information is spread around quite randomly. You need to get the PO Number - which can be found in one spreadsheet, but for the PO date, you got to open the actual order! Then you have to check how much you've sent on the past on this order - which is not on record, so you have to add up all the past delivery notes on that order ... yeah, any wonder that mistakes are made? So I want to simplify that. Plus, the delivery is then recorded against the PO for invoicing and again in the store's stock movement record. And you can't simply copy and paste ... so it's a lovely challenge!

In the afternoon I got an sms from my landlady asking if I could get her some compost, they've seen how well my plants grow in that. I'll get it tomorrow.

Back at home, mippies aren't out for very long, I'm afraid. They either want their munchies or don't like being out in the dark? Which would be strange for cats - and unlike their past behaviour, but this is a different area and there are no street lights here.

And then my landlord brought me a large slab of granite to use! They made it extra large, so I can not only fit the Bread Maker but I can even take the hot pot out and put it right next to it after the bread has baked! That's thoughtful!

For dinner I made some pasta with veggies, then fried a tin of mushrooms with the leftover rump steak and added sour cream and tomato paste. It's enough to still take a meal to work tomorrow, but not enough to stretch another day. Sigh. I've taken out another pork neck for tomorrow night with the last of the pasta.

Poor Lady Jane has been throwing up again. First on her way in, in the lounge - just bile and grass. And again after she had eaten her treat. Most of it ended up on my bedroom floor ...

I'm getting quite excited about the Bread Maker now! I just checked my other e-mail account, and they've confirmed payment - yesterday, so hopefully the flour, etc. will still arrive during this week, so that I can play with my new toy this weekend! I'm hoping for fresh bread rolls for breakfast!

But now, it's time for cuddle cave ...
