Leisurely home-shopping

I went to bed and wriggled my feet under Mewthos, who had been joined by Ziva. It was such a pleasure to watch the expression of pure ecstasy on Mewly's face as Ziva was washing him so lovingly! I couldn't help joining in by tickling his tummy!

I had made the mistake of drinking milk somewhat too late into the evening, so I ended up having to get up a couple of times. On my way back, I decided to collect Lady Jane, who had curled up on the sleeper couch, and add her to my cat-collection. Soon all three were washing each other - too lovely for words.

For tonight, I must pull up the feather duvet a little higher, as I was a little cold. Not much, just a bit.

I had some more strange dreams, but not as weird as the ones last night - these ones revolved around work. Not exactly nice, but at least not freaky.

I've also been thinking about that Bread Maker - part of me doesn't really want to get another kitchen appliance! I already have more than I use! Well, that's not exactly true - I do use them, just not all the time.

I'm not one to acquire appliances mindlessly. I've thought about a Bread Maker before, but always opted to wait, because a) I've never been much of a bread eater - which has changed now, as I take bread to work every day - and, as I said before, b) because I enjoy making things myself from scratch, by hand. And this Bread Maker won't make the bread I prefer, so it won't be replacing the bread I currently buy. However, with a little practice and experience, I should be able to make rye bread - which can replace some of the bought bread. And if I do use it as much as I plan, it may become worth my while to replace it with a version which can make sourdough bread as well.

So, on the whole, I guess I'll give it a try. Watch this space for updates!

I've spent most of the morning shopping online. It's lovely and leisurely and I can check my pantry, etc, as I decide on a product. I'm changing to different products on a lot of things - because those are available on the site I like. It's called Faithful to Nature and I like that they research their products down to the last ingredient AND wherever possible, they support locally manufactured products. A lot of them seem more expensive than the commercial brands I'm used to - but, as I'm reading the reviews, I get the impression that they last longer, so that they are actually competitively priced. Of course, what's taking up most of my time is looking up names and products which I've never ever heard of! Like miso and kombucha and a lot of other new agey type things ...

Mippies also love my online shopping, since I'm right here and ready to pick up any mippie mipping for a cuddle - all the time! And boy, do they need cuddles today!

I ordered two types of flour for my Bread Maker and then some food ingredients, like tins of chopped tomato, some stir-in sauces, I'm trying a Champignon Soup and a Hazelnut Butter. I ordered some cleaning materials and some sandwich bags so I can stop using the plastic ones. I considered getting a container, but yeah - that's not going to work for me, I'm afraid - dish washing, you know? Ha Ha! So I'll try the paper bags.

When I tried to pay, it was declined. I got an sms telling me the payment didn't go through 'because something went wrong'. That explains very specifically, doesn't it? So, I called and was told 'there is no indication why the payment shouldn't go through'. That helps! Especially, since I had made several attempts, all of which failed. Then tried to pay for the Bread Maker - same result ... and the bank just tells me 'there's no reason why your payment shouldn't go through'.

Well, my answer? Quite simply: there's no reason why I should make use of the service of a bank who offers no service. So, I paid with an EFT, which went through without any problem. Good for me as well, since it means I can use my debit card - which is where my salary goes, so no additional transfers to replace used funds.

Why didn't I go that route before? Uhm, well, because I didn't know I could! I don't PayPal or eBuck, which used to be the only options available on Kalahari (now Takealot). So, now I know better!

My Bread Maker should arrive on Wednesday and the groceries, I'll find out once they've dispatched them. Probably this week as well.

Now it's about three in the afternoon, since I've had the last bread roll from the freezer for breakfast, I'm not ravenous, just hungry - it makes quite a big difference, having something in the mornings. I usually have cereal as back-up, but I don't like it with hot milk and it's too cold these days for cold milk early in the mornings.

With most of this weekend spent on re-thinking my lifestyle, and today with shopping for those adaptations, I won't be cooking a good meal today. Also, I had already taken out meat for Friday, which I can't leave for tomorrow again. I'll have to take something else out for tomorrow. Next weekend I can either plan a Pizza or Cordon Bleu or Stroganoff.

I've done the house work, though - having done one load of laundry yesterday and the second one today; I also did the bulk of the dishes yesterday. Today, I just need to wash what I've used today, plus the cats stuff - bowls and water fountain. But first, I'll make my food, eat, and then pack my lunch for tomorrow. What I haven't done - yet again - is wash the floors! I have, however, prepared a list for my next shopping trip.

I had a good laugh at her Ladyship just now. Well, not funny exactly, but just laughing for the pleasure of it. I was busy washing the dishes when she came mipping at me quite insistently, even put her paws on my legs to demand ... well, I thought the usual: attention. But she doesn't usually stand up at me, that's a Mewthos habit. And then I realised she wasn't looking at me so much as at her flower fountain in my hands! She was telling me that I should hurry up and put it back, as she's thirsty and wants to drink clean, fresh water! Lovely how they communicate, isn't it?

I've resisted drinking too much this afternoon, hopefully I'll have fewer interruptions to my sleep tonight. I've re-arranged the duvet - apparently the arrangement meets the approval of Ziva and Mewthos, who have both settled themselves on it now. I think I'll go and join them - it's still early, not even seven, yet, so we can have a lovely long cuddle session! I'll collect Lady Jane as well, just to complete my cuddle collection.
