I struggled to get to sleep ... subsequently struggled to get up this morning. Why bother, when I'm on leave? Because I like the early morning! It's pleasantly cool, even almost cold in the mornings!
I started the day in the back garden, carried on clearing along the bed. I got up the to corner, even a bit around the poppy plant when the sun caught up with me.
Checking my messages - which, during load shedding, I'm doing ALL THE TIME! - I was delighted to see the butchery re-opening! AND: They've got mince! I've been racking my brain for something to do with the bumper crop of green peppers I need to harvest, and kept running into mince stuffing them. And here we are: mince served!
Against my standard preference of not setting foot outside my garden during my leave ... I rounded up mippies (which was somewhat tricky - first I couldn't find Janey, then Ziva insisted on staying outside, Mewthos at least let me drag him inside, and Mini just stayed under my feet) and went to the butchery to get mince!
Very happy! The mince is first class! I took 4 kg, I just packed four bags in the freezer - and I'm keeping the rest to make stuffing for my peppers!
I don't know what's wrong with me ... it just took me all afternoon just to prepare a simple dinner! Okay, so I'm saving the seeds from the peppers, but just cutting tomatoes and a bit of celery? And picking leaves off three strands of thyme? Well ... yeah ... I've fried the everything, now heating up the oven.
I blame the heat! I have more energy in the mornings. Weeeelll, I also had a bit of dire rear today, that drains energy, too. Which, by the way, seems not to be over, yet.
Anyway, I took an early shower, feeling a bit better ... checked my messages: Load Shedding Stage 6 from eight tonight! Until 05:00 tomorrow ... then back to Stage 4 until further notice ...
I was just about to shut down the PC, when I realised it's only half seven, not half eight, yet.
I sat on the veranda for a good while. Now that I no longer need to worry about the whole garden, I'm able to relax.
When it was time to bring mippies in, I couldn't find Janey! She's still spooked about being medicated in the evening. While I went looking for her, the rest of them happily dashed back outside, and it became a mission getting the lot of them back inside - and where was Janey? Hiding under my clothes rack in my bedroom! Well, cowering, more like. Poor girl - but this is causing a bit of an issue.
Half past seven now ... time to shut down ... tomorrow morning we're off 02:00 - 05:00. At Stage 6, we'd be off 4 hours, but with switching to Stage 4 at five, we get power an hour early. Fun, eh? Off again 10:00 - 12:30 and again 18:00 - 20:30 ... I'm so sick and tired of this. Seriously! Yeah, not just me ... everybody!
Well ... time to shut down. Cuddle mippies ... maybe ... go to sleep ...
