I bullied myself out of bed, so I could have a fresh pot of coffee before load shedding at six.
During load shedding, I went outside and cleared the grass taking over in the center bed, around the ponytail. I also, finally! Covered my second duvet - the one I usually sleep on, like an extra layer matress.
At 8:34 Eishkom implemented Stage 6 load shedding! We got lucky, though, as they had already switched us on at eight ... we're supposed to be off till ten, under the new schedule. The rest of today stays the same, though. Two to four, ten to midnight. But tomorrow? We'll have 2x 4 hour outages!
04:00 - 08:30 & 12:00 - 16:30 & 20:00 - 22:30
I just threw away 2 liter milk, which I bought on Tuesday and which had already gone sour!
As soon as the power came on, I started cleaning the kitchen. Tenant is mowing the lawn. Next, I'll have to get busy processing the food I bought this week ...
Almost noon, meat is vacuum packed and in the freezer, apples are peeled, cored and cut. First half dozen is in the freezer, second half dozen are still soaking in lemon juice & water - to prevent discolouring. So, next time I want to make apple pie, I've got the apple part all done.
Right, I just finished mowing. The bits my tenant thinks don't need to be mowed ... well, some of them, for now. Like ... he seems to be moving further and further away from the walls / fences ... and around the compost heap, he seems to be growing a wall of weeds ...
Anyway, almost two ... better turn off the PC ... load shedding. At least only two hours!
Ooookay? That didn't happen ... power stayed on right through! Weird ...
Well, I worked in the garden. Carried on cleaning the center bed, cleaned around the compost heap, and around my teeny tiny lemon tree.
Did some weeding in my tomato bed ... and guess what? I've got some Gem Squash coming along very nicely!
On the whole, I'm really happy with my garden!
Not so happy with load shedding ... I've just brewed a fresh pot of coffee, since power off till eight tomorrow morning! From four to eight! I'm now just trying to charge my phone, just in case I need it tomorrow morning ... Sigh ...
