First night in my new home ... was interrupted. Multiple times! By multiple mips! At one point, Mewhtos toppled my PC - which switched it off. Mippies mipped me awake over and over and over again. They took the lid off their flower fountain - and since Janey does that, too, now, I can't be sure who's the guilty party. I finally got up around six, still tired, though.
Made myself coffee, gave mippies some milkies ... now Ziva and Mewthos demand attention, but I'm not in the mood! Not after they woke me up half a dozen times or more throughout the night!
I'm hoping the washing machine works, so first load I'm making sure I don't absolutely need those clothes. All good! It works. So I can FINALLY wash my duvet! It's needed washing for weeks, but ... well ... shouting, you know? I just hope it will be dry by the end of today. I started early, so I can only hope.
Mippies are mipping and mewling and mipping and mewling and ... I give them a little time, I start working and they start mipping and mewling again. Most importantly today, I need to get the kitchen up and running ... I'm missing a couple of boxes, or rather: I can't find them. I'm looking for plastic bags so I can clean the litter boxes ...
There's also some thinking to do, since the layout of this kitchen is much, much nicer than the one I had - so, things will go in different places, and I'm trying to figure out the best place for most things.
Cool! I just found a key to the back door - the door from the washing room! So, I can hang my washing outside, in the sun! It'll actually be dry fairly quickly - and that also means that I can wash a load of 45 degree clothes, you know: socks and undies. My last load, I want to wash & dry the bed covers and some towels. I may do another load in between, I haven't decided. There's such a lot of laundry to wash - now that I'm allowed!
I hung up the bedroom curtains unwashed, though - maybe next weekend. The only pressure on me now is my own desire that everything is done.
First load of laundry is mostly dry, duvet seems dry - but it'll take time to dry through and through. Third load is on the line and bed covers and towels are in the machine on intensive wash and dry. Including my dish towels.
Which got me thinking: how can you expect to clean a place, when a) you're not allowed to wash your dish towels properly when they need it, b) you're not allowed to wash blankets, curtains and such, c) waste is not removed. So, really, the pigsty part of that place? Imposed upon me! I didn't like living like that, either. Especially since d) they make a game of frightening my cats, so they cope by piddling everywhere.
I've been thinking: I wonder whether they understand that, legally, they've forfeited the right to charge me for cleaning - when they forbade me to clean the place? They probably believe they've earned themselves the right to an even bigger cleaning bill. I thought of communicating reality, when it comes up - but really? The less thought I give to this particular past, the better for me! So ... let them do whatever ... I don't care! Well, I do, but I will stop using up my personal energy on them.
Now it's noon, and the lack of sleep is catching up with me ... I just want to go to sleep! But first, I need to set a loaf of bread to bake. I don't want to use the oven in it's current condition, so I'll just bake it in the machine. After all, this oven is electric, so it's not like I'm saving any costs either way.
Overall, the previous tenant put a lot of effort into leaving a clean place! The only real dirt here, is the dust from the past month. Everything else - well almost everything else - is really clean.
Mippies still follow me everywhere and still have their sudden cuddle-demands! I'm done focusing on everything that needs to be done, so I'm just taking it one step at a time - with constant cuddle breaks! Well, I've moved the duvet into the full sun, bread is in the machine, I've taken out a steak for dinner ... now I'm going to take a nap.
All four mips joined me! I slept about an hour - I'm still tired, though. I've taken in the laundry, made the bed (no! I don't 'make' my bed, I just covered the duvet & pillows! Anyway, mips were in the way, so I couldn't make it, even if I wanted to!).
Turns out the kettle I bought also works on an induction plate - I've decided to use the induction plate again, as that does work out cheaper than an electric oven. It doesn't take as long to heat up, for starters. That steak I fried last night? After cooking on gas, it seemed like an age before the butter started to melt in the pan!
Bit of a problem: I can't open the garage door from inside. For now, I guess I'll walk out the back door - mippies shouldn't be in the washroom with the broken window, when I'm out - and walk around to the garage. Sigh.
I also still can't decide where I'm going to feed mippies here.
I decided to go against past preferences and put their food on one of the kitchen counters. Mewthos enthusiastically went from bowl to bowl. Ziva needed some persuasion and Mini, who was always fed on the floor, also had to be persuaded. Janey didn't even show up. But I saw her eat from one of the dispensers on the counter later.
Still feeling tired - I guess its a result of the weeks of anxiety and all that work packing, and, of course, yesterday was no walk in the park, either. I got ready what I need for the near future. I don't have as much space as I thought - but that's normal. An empty kitchen always looks bigger than a filled one. I still have a lot to unpack and to decide what I'll put where. I think I'll need a separate pantry, but that's cool! All my toys within reach, ready to use? Bargain!
Oh and guess what? Massive house, three bedrooms, large kitchen, enormous lounge ... and where are mippies? Under my feet! Or on my bed! The whole lot of them! And they've already messed on my clean bed covers ... though, in fairness, they did make every effort to lick up the mess. Ah, well! I think mippies are happy here! That's all that matters!
This evening I couldn't decide whether to bath or to shower - fun times! I eventually took another bath - just for the novelty of it! Oh, and by the way: even though this bathroom is - naturally - a lot smaller than the previous one, it is still quite a large bathroom! No Yoga to dry off!
I think I should maybe get a FitBit? The amount of walking I do just from one place to the next is quite ... tiring! Zoompaloompies haven't been bouncing off the walls, yet - but I'm sure that will come.
I wasn't in the mood for dinner tonight, though I did make myself a raspberry smoothie. Just for the fruit, hoping it'll perk me up a bit. It did. Car is packed, so I can relax now, then tomorrow enjoy a cup of coffee before I go to work.
