Lock-down Day 189

Power went out for a minute some time after four - which woke me and mippies up. Mippies decided 'early rise' is this morning's theme - I obliged, gave them a treat and made my coffee. Shared my milk - as always.

It started raining around four - hence the power outage. And raining hard! The storms we had been warned would come - are here! I just hope they get over and done by tomorrow and that it doesn't rain on Saturday!

Sigh, so much can still go wrong ... anxiety levels are rising again, guts are knotting up all day ... I just wish the move was behind me! Mippies are also getting anxious, Janey inspects the wardrobe every evening and sees it emptier every evening; as I'm taking those boxes through to empty & return for books.

Okay, offloading done! Unfortunately the power was out, so I couldn't load electricity - but the owner bought electricity, I just need to deposit the amount into his account tonight! Another relief! I also - finally - have a signed copy of my contract, so: all systems go! The manager told me he had checked the weather report and Saturday should be dry - I haven't had the guts to look. I just hope he's right!

I also took photos of all the damages we recorded, so I can do a full report.

At this point, I'm not able to think past Saturday. It still doesn't feel quite real - little ole me, moving into a lovely big house? With a lovely big garden? Where I am really free to make changes, do improvements, find out just what MY life-style really is? It sounds wonderful, doesn't it? So ... it will be interesting to see how I'll feel in a year's time. Lets hope that this time, I won't regret my choice of home!

I did a lot of searching. I didn't LOOK at many placed, though. Will I regret that? I did a good bit of research, comparing size, price, location, etc. On my list, this place was Number 40 - that's not really 'take the first place', is it? Though I did take the first place that was suitable ... I think I must stop playing these 'what if' movies in my head now. I'm crazy enough already, no need to go totally doolally, is there?

On the whole, even though this was not at all my plan, I think how's this move is happening is better than what I could have planned! Okay, so I'm paying 2 rents for October - bummer - but my mippies aren't terrorised by prospective tenants viewing the place; I don't have a whole month to endure, fret, worry and panic; and mippies are getting out of the environment, where they no longer feel at home, very soon as well! And my current landlord has a 'clean', empty place to photograph and show prospective tenants! IF they choose to ... though, they don't seem to even be advertising, yet.

I've just spoken to our driver, he'll be one of the guys helping me move on Saturday. He'll get two colleagues to help. That should be enough - they are hard workers. He wasn't sure whether he was available, as he might have to go home, but he'll go home after he's helped me move! Nice!

Tonight, I should maybe pack the kitchen box ... or maybe leave that for Friday. On Friday, all I need to do is defrost the freezer, pack the cooler bag, wash the dishes and load mippie stuff into the car. Sounds a lot, but really isn't. The dishes will take the longest - and it's only what I've used during the week, so: not much.

Tonight, I'll take it easy. If I can ...

And then I remembered: curtains! They are not yet on my list, but will need to come down as well.

Lace curtains are down, so are the kitchen curtains. I can take down the bedroom and bathroom curtains Friday afternoon.

Mippies stayed close by my side again. Mewthos and Mini investigated the car - Mini didn't want to leave it. She is very clever, I think she has figured out that the only way to stay with me, is to go in the car.

She's right, too, of course. And they'll all go with me in the car on Saturday morning. But for now, I'm going to watch some Episodes and cuddle mippies. They're confused, but not overly anxious. A little worried, perhaps, but I'm relaxed so they're not anxious.
