Lock-down Day 191

Phew! By three this afternoon, the move was done and the guys left! It's been a very, very long day and I'm absolutely knackered! I just tried to run myself a bath, when I remembered that I first have to turn the geyser on, if I want hot water! Silly me!

I got up early and started getting ready, some coffee, then turning off the PC and shoving mippies into their respective carriers. They wouldn't eat the treat with CalmEze - so they were a bit hyper. Mewthos mewled and mewled and mewled ... really annoying!

At couldn't make it, after all. The guys arrived about twenty past seven. With the large truck - which I didn't think would fit through the gate! Sigh, so I guess they plan on one trip? Not what I had planned ... anyway, I showed them around - one guy started clearing the garden, the others started loading the boxes, after they had carried the cage to the car ... and I left to take mippies to their new home!

Turns out the sign boards showing the road off the old Warmbaths road? Gone! So, I drove right past and ended up going the long way around. Mippies were quite quiet during the ride! When I got there, the gate wouldn't open! Power was on (I can tell by the light on the water tank), but I tried quite a few times and the gate wouldn't open. So, I called the one guard who is always on site. Then the neighbour introduced himself, he was leaving as I was standing outside - got his number, all sorted! And then, fortunately, the gate DID open! I called the guard and told him that all is okay.

Carried in mippies, after I had offloaded everything else. Mips were very nervous! And I had to leave right away ... put out their food, with the CalmEze, their flower fountain going, their litter boxes, and their kibbles. Oh, and all their toys as well!

Then I drove back, this time the short route and looked for 'markers' to find which turn it is. When I got back, I asked why he had stopped packing my plants? My landlord told him he's not allowed! Sheez! They loaded most of my flat onto the truck.  But we'd have to make a second trip. Oh, and they didn't pour all the water out of the fridge, so the whole truck bottom was soaking wet ... including all the boxes they had loaded at the bottom.

So much damage ... I haven't the heart to look. Seriously, I wish just one brain had been there today!

Well, I loaded my PC into the car, blankets, took down the curtains, etc, etc, etc. Then we left with the first load. As we drove through the gate, my landlord came back from shopping. Would you believe that he made US move the shoulder of the road? A loaded truck! And he hogs the only lane - wouldn't even wait, like EVERY driver does on that road, to let us pass! Well, I stopped, told him we'll be back for the rest and I'd hand over the keys then.

I drove slowly, as our driver hadn't been there, yet, so he could follow me. This time, I took the short route. And guess what? He managed to drive THROUGH the gate! It was tight, but no damage! Well, apart from the trees ...

Then I first went to check on my mippies! Mewthos and Ziva were hiding in the cat carrier, Mini was out and about - but I couldn't see Janey anywhere! Then I found her! She had pulled the bedding, I had put down for them, as it has their scent on it, over her head and was hiding underneath! Well, I gave each a little attention, then closed the door to leave - Ziva and Mini wanted to come out with me, but I was adamant!

Then offloading! Lots of work! All the boxes, I think the wet ones are in the garage ... I'll have to try and get to them as soon as possible. Sigh. They put up the washing machine and the fridge. And managed to get the bed to the bedroom without needing to open mippies door! Oh, and I loaded the electricity my current landlord had bought. I had sent the code to the manager - but for some reason, he didn't load it. After a long job offloading, we went back to my old place. This time, I didn't drive slow, as our driver knows the way.

We got back by twelve. They had lunch, I took my plants. See him trying to stop ME! He didn't. That all the succulents I got from Rose, which my landlord forbade one of the guys to dig up to take with! Seriously, what's wrong with him?

Well, we loaded more and more, I went through to check - and they had left quite a few boxes in corners and closets, but hopefully they got everything. I didn't get a chance to take a last walk through to make sure ...

My landlord came around, and forbade the guys to clean up - they were sweeping and washing the floors. He forbade them to do that! Seriously! Then the ostentatiously took photos of the open kitchen cupboards - but I just walked out. Let him do what he wants to do - I don't care. But he didn't stop there! He told me that he hopes I'll be very happy in my new home, which is a very bad area, known for its danger and the criminals all around! Says he knows where I'm moving to! Like I care! But I was surprised that he took the trouble to find out where I'm moving to ... though I don't know how, or whether he knows EXACTLY where I'm moving, or just the area. He made several more ugly comments like that - I just said 'Thank you!'. Oh, and he also said that it's no use we clean the place, because "a pigsty will stay a pigsty" - I don't think he realised that he was actually putting down the flat with that comment, not me :)

And when we were about to leave, he ordered my colleagues to 'pick up that ground' - meaning, they had to shovel the potting soil and compost HE had emptied behind my bathroom, without my approval - and take it with! Bonus! I get some of my soil back! But what an absolute ... man, seriously? Who DOES THAT? Well, I'm very, very glad to be out of there!

Second load was much less to offload. They did have trouble getting the table to the third bedroom ... I knew they would. The legs should have been taken off in the old flat, but they took all the tools to the house, and left them there. Well, they got as far as the kitchen ... and left it there! Then carried EVERYTHING past the table, which was blocking almost the entire kitchen! They took care of that table last! See what I mean about thinking?

But they did put the flowers into the ground, that couldn't stay in pots - potted everything we took from my garden and watered everything as well! Very nicely done! When they were finished and had left, I finally let mippies out!

Janey had moved the feather pillows next to the carrier and was huddled underneath. Mini was out, Ziva and Mewthos were in the cat carrier. Ziva and Mini came out quite eagerly to explore their new home - Janey reluctantly followed ... but Mewthos? Stayed huddled in the cat carrier! Until I got time to coax him out! They are by my side all the time, under my feet, around ... Ziva needs loads and loads of lovies, as does Mewthos. I've had to interrupt typing this again and again and again and again.

I've taken my first bath! First bath in three months! LOVED IT! I fried myself a steak, which I shared with mippies - sitting at the table in the third bedroom. I've put up my PC, my bed and curtains in the bedroom ... I've got all I need for coffee tomorrow morning ... now I'm going to relax and rest for tomorrow!

I'm home!
