Lock-down Day 100

One hundred days! And we are still in lock-down! And our government is talking about tightening restrictions, if not going back to harder levels! The DA did a re-cap of the past 99 days of lock-down yesterday ... it is unbelievable that they had to go to court to assert BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS, like food!

I thought about changing my daily heading, once I go back to work - but we're still in lock-down! The country is not 'back to normal', not even a 'new normal' (I hate that expression!) with 'virus precautions'. We are still locked down! Vast sectors of industry are STILL SHUT! The sale of cigarettes is still banned! So, although this blog is indeed about just me and my little life - my going back to work again doesn't change that shelves in stores are still empty, that I have even fewer colleagues ... it just means that I'm going back to work. For now.

In my own little life, I've smoked most of the cigarettes I've prepared and I'm now searching through the FB group for help. Found something: apparently, some of the tobacco might simply be too large - I need to cut it even smaller. Going to give that a try now ...

Okay, that seems to have solved my problem! That was the first cigarette I made, which I could smoke without having to re-light it every few puffs! Of course, now a lot of it is too fine - but it's only the first attempt! The next batch, I'll know better to start with! But first, I'll process the tobacco I still have - make a couple of cigarettes with that!

I've cleaned the kitchen in the meantime, and I've also put the mutton on the stove - it's simmering along nicely.

I think in the long run, it might be worth my while to invest in one of those machines, where you just fill the tobacco in a feeder and it fills tubes of cigarettes? Doing it by hand is really time consuming - and once I'm back at work, I won't have much time for that!

I only ate a steak and my last bread roll today. I haven't made time for cooking for myself. Mippies were not impressed with their mutton, I'm afraid. Except for Ziva! She enjoyed it! I have another half-eaten mouse in the shower, and I think they chased one under one bookshelf in the lounge - Mini and Mewthos are parked in front of the shelf now ...

At least they came in without trouble! Ziva demanded and extended ear-scratching session while I was filling cigarette tubes. I've got more leaves washing now - I read how one person leaves them a whole day, so I'm just going to leave them tonight.  I baked a batch of cookies, but I haven't made more dough. Yet. I'll have to do that tomorrow. I also want to bake a batch of muffins - they don't take long, though.

I've been thinking of making myself pizza for the first couple of days this week - so tomorrow morning, it's bread dough time again. Phew! Who'd have thought getting back to work would take such a lot of preparation, eh? I wish I had taken the time to bake bread today, though - I'm still hungry, I'm afraid!

The internet has also been difficult today, again. Often only 1 bar. I suppose during the lock-down, tower and network maintenance has also been closed ... Sigh.

Well, I think I'll make a couple more tubes and then go to bed. Ziva and Janey are already warming my bed for me - Mewthos and Mini are quietly happy in front of the bookshelf! Ha Ha Ha! First evening Mewthos hasn't done his mewling rounds or demanded I play 'catch' with him!
