A very good night! No buzzing! I woke up at five, feeling refreshed and ready for the day! Poor mippies, though - at first they were exited that I got up so early, but then, when I didn't let them out right away, they started buzzing! Ha Ha! I just waited for sunrise, then let them out.
Okay, time for a depressant, right? Sorry, I mean the news.
Communications Minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams says geo-location from phones will be used to trace possible contacts.
“We do respect that everyone has a right to privacy, but in a situation like this our individual rights do not supersede the country’s rights.
“This is not spying on anyone,” Ndabeni-Abrahams assured.
I'll be interested to see how this plays out. In some positive news, street vendors are allowed to operate now!
And, of course, the possibility of extending the lock-down is now in full debate:
Dlamini-Zuma says assessments on the feasibility of extending the lockdown are underway.
“There is research being done and at the right time government will make that assessment and make a determination, but for now it is still too early,” she adds.
I think that's enough news for now, eh? I've changed to a different Series I'm now watching, seems appropriate: The Twilight Zone! Which - in these times - feels more like a reality show than fantasy!
Scrolling through Facebook (yes, again!) I see a BBC article about the lock-down in South Africa, interesting wording:
But overall, as South Africans mark their first week under one of the strictest lockdowns introduced anywhere in the world - no jogging outside, no sales of alcohol or cigarettes, no dog-walking, no leaving home except for essential trips and prison or heavy fines for law-breaking - there is an argument to be made that a government so often attacked as corrupt and inefficient, and a private sector so often seen as aloof and greedy, are rising to meet what is widely anticipated to be the greatest challenge this young democracy has ever seen.
I just stumbled across a new FB group: Rock the lockdown SA. I've had quite a couple of laughs already! Then, when I tried to post something, I made a wee li'l typo: instead of lockDOWN, I typed lockCLOWN! Thought that was appropriate, so I left it ...
Today, I'm trying to make Butternut soup. First attempt. I don't have one of those 'mush-it-in-the-pot' hand-held thingamajigs, so I'll use the same blender I use for milk shakes. Speaking of which, I'm thinking of adding a banana for the 'sweet and creamy' effect.
I also finally washed my duvet. Mippies had been wetting it again - really, I don't know why! And they LOVE it, when I put on clean sheets - they're all on the bed, all day! Except for Ziva, she still self-isolates in the cat carrier. But she's come out and joined them on the bed now.
I see my landlord connected a pipe to my kitchen water outlet, and is 'catching' my kitchen water in a barrel ... he's talked about it a while back, saving our waste water for the garden - but it would have been nice if he had given me a heads-up! And it's only MY water going into the garden ... well, I just finished the last commercial washing powder, so now it's the eco-friendly one. Good timing, eh?
Oh, and now we have NO water!?!? No clue, why ... I'll only need water again tonight, though, when I want to take a bath. Yes, bath. It's cold, so I'd like a nice hot bath tonight! If the water isn't back, no problem, though.
In case you're wondering why all my news come from the same source: well, one business that's booming during lock-down is the news business. Now, everyone charges if you want to read their articles.
Finally! An article I can read, and believe, regarding the face mask issue:
Wearing a face mask is certainly not an iron-clad guarantee that you won’t get sick – viruses can also transmit through the eyes and tiny viral particles, known as aerosols, can penetrate masks. However, masks are effective at capturing droplets, which is a main transmission route of coronavirus, and some studies have estimated a roughly fivefold protection versus no barrier alone (although others have found lower levels of effectiveness).
Right now, there's a debate about the extension of the lock-down. I fear it will be extended, and the death toll of the lock-down will continue to exceed the death toll of COVID-19. Scary thought ...
And if that wasn't scary enough, on the news just now, a government official mentioned the 2-3 month lock-down ... as if it's a done deal ... Can I wake up, now? Please?
On the bright side, people are posting a lot of funnies. Here some which had me giggling:
I also posted that I think, if this lock-down is extended, I'll need to re-start with a Training Bra ...
The Butternut soup turned out very well, the banana was also a success! I've had one bowl today and will have another tomorrow.
Well, the water is back - phew! Also, there's water outside = rain :) So, I took advantage and brought mippies in really early! They didn't mind, though. They're loving this 'mommy home' stuff! They don't even mind getting only 2 sachets! They've got their dry food out, and they're munching throughout the day and night. And yes, Ziva still self-isolates in the cat carrier at times.

I enjoyed a lovely hot bath. Now, my biggest problem will be to get enough of the duvet to cover myself, since all mippies are hogging it! There's a lick-fest going on, right now Mewthos is at the center of it - looks just too darling!
Ziva surprised me again, usually when I do pick her up to carry her to a more comfortable roly-poly cuddle location, she gets off fast, when we arrive. Today? She just stayed in my arms, enjoying having her ears scratched!
Grin, and now, Ziva is getting washed by Janey! Mini is self-isolating in the kitchen. If I try to walk past her, out comes the paw, with the claw, just saying 'wait a bit, mommy! I is here! Tummy tickles!' I'll go fetch her now ...
