Much better night, much less pain! Not pain-free and not a full night's sleep, but much, much, MUCH better than yesterday! A good thing, too, as I've used up half my pain killers! Today I'm down to plain paracetamol against the headache.
Some time during the night the power went out again. Sigh. Stayed out until around 9! Fortunately I could make myself coffee - that's very important! Ha Ha! I then used the time to keep working on my belt. Making progress, though I'm at a tricky stage: I've had to extend every single twine, and the only way I could manage was to tie them with knots. So it's pretty knobbly at this stage. I'm also loosing track of the pattern, as a result - grin, undeniably made-by-me!
I'm somewhat concerned with my fellow South Africans - at least the one's in the groups I've joined for the lock-down: The most popular & commented on posts are the current trend asking "What's the first thing you'll do when the lock-down is lifted". Uhm ... hello? Reality check here! The lock-down will NOT be LIFTED! This won't be over and behind us, like a bad dream. Life won't be 'back to normal' ... not next month, not the month after that! Yes, I'm also having difficulty processing that, but plain denial isn't going to help. Everybody wants to either go to church, hug lots of family, go shopping ... Bottle stores are already being looted, now even grocery stores are targeted ... What is going to happen, when reality sinks in? I think THAT may be even scarier than the epidemic ...
On the international front, some people are already loudly protesting against vaccination. Uhm, seriously? This is a brand new disease, there isn't even any treatment for it, yet! Development of a possible vaccine is months, if not years away - and you're protesting for your right to refuse vaccination?
Okay, back to the real, or should I say 'my tiny little' world. Which is still filled mostly with pain. It comes, I rinse, it recedes ... then comes again. Eventually I decided to try an anti-inflammatory. Which seems to have worked, because I've had no pain since I've taken it.
No pain! Four hours later, still no pain! A little twinge, but I can handle that. I'm taking another anti-inflammatory, though, so I can be sure to sleep through the night. I've not done much the past three days, except make it through each day. I've got some catching up to do ... starting tomorrow.
Numbers tonight: 95k tested, 2506 confirmed, 410 recovered, 34 deaths. Not good.
