Lock-down Day 24

Remember in the old days, before cellphones and internet? How we kept track of the day of the week? The date? Good thing we have internet & cellphones now, eh? Accidentally rip a 2nd sheet off the calendar and you're confused until ... usually radio or TV sets us right.

I had a good night, though some weird dreams in the morning. Which prompted the above. I actually dreamed I was driving somewhere, or rather being driven by my grandmother! The weirdest part of that? My grandmother didn't have a drivers license! Oh, and we stopped at a height and looked straight through Rose's home ... yeah, another weird thing! For some reason, Rose had installed 2 more doors on her front door, an insect mesh plus a white security door. Rose wasn't home, but visiting her daughter. While we had stopped to spy on Rose (totally unreal, by the way!) Ziva and Mewthos got out of the car and moved into a garden. Insisting this is they house I must move into. Yeah, there's more and it just gets weirder ...

Considering the world we currently live in, I can't tell which is weirder ... I sometimes wonder just how much I'm fooling myself by holding on to some form of 'normal' that is no longer realistic? I see many, many posts on Facebook where people state the first thing they'll do as soon as this is over ... hug their grandchildren, hug everybody, party, go to the beach en masse ... all assuming this will simply be over, and everything will be the same as before ... as if the lock-down is the problem.

I'm retreating into my own little world, filled with bathroom cleaning, rationed cigarettes and cuddling mippies. Mippies all rush out in the morning, when I open the door - well, except for Mini. She likes to stay under my feet when the others are all off doing their rounds & she's got me to herself! As soon as the big ones come back, first thing each wants is a cuddle! Which is my chance to inspect their fur for visitors - yes, they bring back ticks when they go off. But since they all want cuddles first, I can usually pick them off before they get a chance to attach themselves to mippies. Not always, though. And Mini is tricky, as she's all black - I often don't see any ticks until they've grown so much, they stick out! So, I've taken to intensive feeling sessions, ha ha! Yeah, just tickle tummies, rub her back, scratch her ears, under her chin ... feel if there's any bump or such.

I'm just about ready to give up on the shower now ... I finished the walls, no problem. Polished the stainless steel fixtures - lovely and shiny. But the floor? Yikes! I've sprayed and scrubbed over and over ... and I'm still not happy.

And just like that, it's now clean! I had sprayed it one last time, and when I scrubbed, no more brown! Now I'm debating whether I should still steam clean the floor or just call it quits. I'm getting rather fed up with this cleaning business ...

Okay, NOW I'm happy with the shower! Last step now, is to clean my hanging shelves, then everything that goes onto them and put it all back.

Now, if only I could get through to Mini to stop bringing her prey into the bed to play with! I was happily drifting off to sleep last night, when Mini brought a live lizard into the bed and hid it under my duvet ... then played hide and seek with it! Sigh! I found it again this morning - still alive, so I took it outside. Honestly, she tries me the most! She also makes me laugh the most, so ... on the whole, I think I'll keep her :)

Crap! I thought I'd take a shower in my beautifully clean shower ... no water! Why? No clue! Crap, crap, crap! Sigh ... just got to wait and hope ... since I'm not in the mood to talk to my landlord.

I went to sit outside for my hourly smoke when my landlord was in his garden. I asked whether there was a reason why there was no water ... he replied that he'd check. Turns out he switched it off, because the pump was going on and off and on and off as if there was a leak! Typical! He does that without asking or telling me. You know what it was? Me! Remember I sprayed, scrubbed then rinsed the shower floor? Yeah, filling the jug to rinse it every half hour ... that's why he switched off the water pump ... ah, well. I can shower now. An hour later.

Phew, that feels a lot better! Oh, and my kitchen water is also no longer being scrutinized. Turns out my landlord wanted to use the chemicals to get rid of an ant nest ... only ... I no longer use any harmful chemicals in my kitchen. Not for dishes, nor laundry. So his plan failed & he has to come up with another one ... and my kitchen drains back into the drain! Which is good now, because I tried to make a new kind of cheese last night ... and failed. I tried to use lemon juice instead of rennet as a curdling agent ... didn't work. Sigh.

Oh, and while I'm scrubbing one end of the bathroom ... someone is piddling against my curtains again! Hrmph! Don't let me find a cork anywhere, I mean it! Or a diaper ... this could get ugly! At least its on the top curtains, not the lace ones - those I can wash! Still ... I'm not happy.

Oh Mini! They came in without any wait ... of course, I had to carry Mini inside. And just now, she decided to try to get into the shelf next to me ... only, she misjudged and ended up pulling my clothes down over herself! Even funnier: Ziva came and stuck her head out of that shelf to see what's going on! It was just too funny, especially as Mini did the nonchalant washing herself thing afterwards ... huh? Me? Accident? What? Oh, no, that was the plan all along! Ha Ha!

Later, I went to fetch Mini out of the bathroom, held her close and sat in my armchair with her in my arms ... and she promptly licked my face again! Yup, I'm using Nivea again - she loves licking Nivea off my face!

Well, the bathroom is almost finished, only the toilet and cupboards left, which won't take long. I really want to get going on some scratch pads for Mini, to safe my furniture! And they all just love it when I make stuff for them! And that makes me happy!

Now, I have a bit of a battle for my duvet - as I've got the three big mippies stretched out on my duvet. Mini is curled up next to my pillows ... it's gonna be fun trying to wriggle among them all!

I'll leave on a sober note: 114 711 tested, 3158 confirmed, 903 recovered and 54 deaths.
