Lock-down Day 18

Bad night. Very bad night. I woke up with the most awful toothache and just couldn't kill the pain. I drank enough pain killers to knock anyone out - only to have a new wave wash over, bringing tears of pain to my eyes!

I did manage to go back to sleep eventually, but I clearly didn't sleep very well. And I still have the toothache. I'm still taking pain killers. Before breakfast, too - I'm guessing I'm not likely to have a good day.

Just taking another pain killer ... and just for laughs, my neck is now itching like crazy! Not a good day for me ... the pain goes, then comes back full force, then recedes only to return, like waves. Awful!

It's half past ten, and I've just had the first half hour pain free. I've been up since half past six! I've also had my last sip of coffee half an hour ago ... scared to eat or drink anything, now. I feel another wave of pain trying to come along, I've found mouthwash and brushing my teeth helps. Don't ask, you'd think touching the actual tooth would cause even worse pain ... I've never brushed my teeth so frequently in my whole life! And, of course, I'm feeling faint and dizzy all the time now ...

Carry on regardless! I've put a load in the machine - sticking to the 1-per-week allowance. I've added the blankies from the sleeper couch, which Mewthos has doused in 'eau-de-tinkle' ... he hasn't added anywhere since I've been home, though. It will be very hard for him, when I go back to work. Oh, they'll all find it hard, but clearly, Mewthos acts out the worst, when I'm away all day.

And I absolutely must make some scratching toys and furniture for my mippies during this lock-down! Mini is absolutely decimating my Ottoman! And the rope on the scratcher I built long ago is also unraveling again, so I should re-rope it as well. I can use the rope on the balancing beam, as they don't use that anymore - I haven't found a good place to put it for their use.

And here comes another wave of pain ... Mouthwash seems to keep it at bay this time. Unfortunately I'm going to have to eat something - I've been too scared to try until now. Especially, since it's still Burrito's - I'm making the novel attempt of eating them with knife and fork! Not much choice, how else can I avoid the painful tooth?

Eating went off very well: no pain! I think it's finally over! Of course, now I really feel like catching up on missed sleep - but I think, if I try a 'nap' now, I'd end up sleeping a couple of hours!

The laundry is done - only, it didn't spin properly, so most of it is soaking wet! I've hung the lot up, though ... it'll have to do. I'm not up to playing around trying to spin properly or wringing everything out ... the sun is out, it'll dry, I just hope it won't be too hard.

Sigh, I spoke too soon! Another wave of pain ... halted en route with another pain killer. Mewthos has been by my side throughout the morning, mewling for lovies every step of the way.

And now, just before one, it seems it's back to wave-after-wave of pain ... sounds like an abscess, doesn't it? Only, there isn't a point of origin, which would be the case with an abscess. Well, I'm going to try the home-treatment for abscess: rinse with salt water. Can't do any harm, and who knows, might just work. After all, there's nothing else I can do.

I decided to take a nap, after all, whilst the pain was at bay. I managed to catch an hours shut-eye - and woke with Mewthos curled up by my side! They're all here with me, have been all day, except not as on-top-of-me like Mewthos! He is an absolute cuddle-addict! Except at dusk and at dawn - that's when he goes for extended roams!

Speaking of which, I haven't seen nor heard Sir Galahad in many weeks - I fear something must have happened to the poor boy. It's not only since the lock-down, but for some weeks before, as well. Poor boy! I hope he's at peace ...

Ha Ha, I thought Mewthos was finally outside - nope, he just strolled out of the shelf next to me! NOW he's outside!

Most of the washing is dry, except for the big blanket - all the water collected in the corners, which I've just wrung out. The center is dry, though - but those corners won't be dry by the end of today. No problem, I'll just keep it on the stand inside overnight.

And now, I'm going to take a shower.

Ah! Much better! Ah, Mini has brought me a hoppy! And left it on the bed for me - special delivery! She's such a darling!

Oh, and here's another wave of pain! Sigh, it's a bit like contractions, eh? Only they're getting further apart. Fortunately!

Finally a post to share! You know all these 'Due to the reduction of pollution' memes? Usually along the lines of "Hillbrow (or some other city center) looks much better already" usually with a picture of the beach! Well, today I came across one "Due to the reduction of pollution, we can now see the MATRIX!" Ha Ha! On the whole, people have lost their sense of humour since the extension was announced, there's more complaints and conspiracy theories than anything to lift the mood.

Eight in the evening, and a live Information Sharing Session on South Africa's response to COVID-19. One cause for concern: a 57 year old male was admitted to hospital today, with respiratory symptoms and passed away - he had no underlying illness. No obesity, no diabetes, nothing - a healthy, middle-aged man.

Half past nine now, I'm still watching, so I'll publish now & give you my impressions tomorrow.
