Thursday

Another interrupted night, courtesy of the feeding frenzy of a swarm of mosquitoes. I set the fan lower, so I felt the breeze - as a result, I woke up with a headache. Can't win.

At work, I find that today is the day I go to Makro! What a nightmare! Not so much Makro itself, that was just disappointing, but the roads? They've changed the roads around that Junction so many times now, and they're still changing it ... I ended up going in circles for the longest time! The Makro sign board is not visible from the road, so I couldn't tell exactly which of the 'Islands' I'm trying to reach. The turns have also changed off the main road, so I first ended up taking the wrong turn. And while I'm sifting through my memories, trying to remember which layout was the most recent ... I finally think I know where I am, relax ... and promptly take another wrong turn! Ha Ha I ended up circling Makro like a vulture!

Okay, they had no manual food slicers. They had only one single model vacuum packer - at a hefty price. They didn't have the milk bottles their website advertised. I did get milk bottles, at least. And a few other things, like tonic water. Funny thing happened, though: I strolled past the chocolate aisle without much thought! Those peanut butter cups are so much more delicious! Can't go back to the store-bought stuff! I also bought cigarettes. There was a queue at the tills, but I expected that. Their staff are not very friendly, nor helpful. Also expected. Oh, and I got a stainless steel bowl, so I can use that for slow cooking ... like a bain marie. Fill a pot with water, heat the water, then put the food in the bowl. Good for melting chocolate and such, and I need something like that for the cheese making and the yoghurt making.

On the way back, with the on-going road works, I couldn't find the lane that should be going straight and ended up coming back through Pretoria North. Sigh.

I got back just in time for lunch - and near the end our customer came to collect. He was able to leave over an hour later! Production was still producing some of what he should be collecting, and I couldn't have the delivery notes ready, since I can't tell WHAT quantities will be brought in when they see the driver! I'm getting seriously fed up with that - it puts unnecessary pressure on me, and I get no co-operation from production! And our customer has to wait ...

I'm happy with the milk bottles at least, so I'll be paying even less for my milk in future! Plus, I'll no longer have the collection hanging in the kitchen cupboard for recycling! Win win!

For the rest, I think I'll give Wonderpark a try one of these days. The manual bread machine, in particular, since I've seen vacuum sealers online.

And now, I have some catching up to do at work ...

On the way home I had a really good laugh! They were discussing the news item regarding the corrupt mayor of Durban, who's just had 51 Million Rand worth of assets seized. After the discussion, the DJ closed by saying "You know in Durban they had this big mall called The Wheel? Now it's just The Rim!"

I got some milk on the way, then drove past what appears to be some sort of accident? Right next door - I've no idea what happened, I was focusing on the road.

Sigh, Ziva just jumped onto the keyboard - her spelling is really awful!

I'm a little troubled that I'm still not scooping as much out of the litter boxes as I used to. I watched Lady Jane sniff, dig a little, sniff, turn, dig some more, then go to the other box, repeat the process, come back to the big one ... yet she wouldn't go!

So far, I've only seen Tynx use it. I'm not sure what to think ...
