Happy 2nd birthday, mippies!

Gosh, I just received a birthday mail from Quizzy Lizzy - I would have clean forgotten that it was 2 years ago today, that my darlings Mewthos and Janey were born! I still see it clearly, Ziva curled in the wardrobe and shwooops! Out popped Mewthos followed by Quizzy Lizzy. Then there was nothing, so I went to make my morning coffee and when I got back the twins had arrived and all four were nursing and Ziva had a look on her face that I will never forget. Proud, happy, and just full of love!

Then Rose arrived and we just sat there watching the kitties! Ha ha, rose kept lifting their tails to see which was female and which male - and she was spot on!

Pity it only lasted a week, hey? Then she'd had enough and went walk-about, remember?

It's also high time I post some more photos! Sigh, this blog has not even been introduced to Tynx! This weekend is going to be tough, though, because ...

... I went shopping today! It went quite well, which, I'm afraid, also means that I will be quite busy this weekend! What should have been on special, wasn't - at least not all the items on my list. But they did have Watermelon at a reasonable price, as well as Spanspek! Those are usually audaciously overpriced - so, I took one of each. Which, of course, means, I have to process both this weekend. The Spanspek is easy: cut into cubes and freeze. But the Watermelon is a little trickier, I make water ice with that. Oh, not much work, just blend, boil with some Gelatin and sugar and then freeze. I hope I can find space in the freezer to put the cups for freezing!

And then, a funny thing happened: I was asked to produce my ID to purchase cigarettes! Oh, not because I look under 18 - ha ha ha! But apparently something funny happened in that store and now ever customer buying cigarettes in bulk must produce an ID. I didn't have it on me, and she spoke to the manager and it was not necessary - still: very strange. Of course, this is how things work nowadays: one person does something unlawful and the next thing all law-abiding citizens have yet another inconvenience to deal with.

Oh, and I also got some more flower seeds. I got some Marigold, lots of Alyssum - even a pack of multi-coloured Alyssum, another pack for the tall flower mix or did I get two? Ha ha! I have a long stretch of bed for flowers, so it's okay to go somewhat overboard again.

They also had strawberries on special, I just could not resist! And then they had bacon on special - but their standard bacon is the same price, without special; I took some as well. I got some cheese, also on special - actually, the Gouda was cheaper than the special, so I took that. Oh, and some club steaks and some rump steaks. Also on special. So, you see, I've got a lot of processing to do ... and yet, I WOULD like to post photos. Sigh, well, let's see how the weekend goes.

I managed to get all the fruit, meat, cheese and veggies into the cooler box - except for the melons, of course. I hope I'm not squishing my strawberries too much! Right now, having listed all my goodies, my mouth is watering! Ha ha! I'll have to wait another 4-5 hours before I'm home. And then there's still my chocolate, which should arrive today! Oh my, what a week for goodies, eh?

I will have to go through to Pretoria East next Friday, though. I'm almost completely out of cold meats and I have no sausages left, either. But at least I can give the Pick n Pay a miss, now - I only need to go to the German Butchery.

My chocolates just arrived! They are perfect! And I even got a little Revite cooler bag! Ha Ha, my colleague told me it should fit a six-pack nicely - though, it's mine, he he! I had to open at least two boxes to see if they chocolates survived this lengthy ordeal - okay, so one of the peanut butter cups' top center was a little melted, so I'll just put them in the fridge when I get home and they should be fine.

Now just another two hours and I can go home, yay! Today, my mind is nowhere near my work, even though I just came up with a solution to something which had been niggling at the back of my mind for weeks. It'll have to wait till Monday for me to implement it.

To overcome the boredom while waiting to go home, I decided to get some work done. It helped.

At home, I let mippies out - but Tynx and Ziva stayed under my feet. I unpacked the car, then packed the fridge ... and then relented and gave Tynx a tin of mousse. I still had two, now only one left. She dug into it with gusto! Then I prepared dough for bread rolls - its in the machine right now - and then sliced the bananas and put it in the freezer.

I've taken another stroll around the garden - my birthday mippies are on a far walkabout at the moment. I think that finally some of my flowers are sprouting - at least, I'm hoping that the tiny specks of green I'm seeing are my flowers and not weeds! Time will tell.

I had a chat with my colleague today, about a vacuum packer. He told me, once you've got one, you'll never know how you lived without it! Food just stays fresh so much longer, it's unbelievable! So, I'll be looking into that fairly soon!

Well, mippies came in and got lots of treats! Some mousse, tinned chicken, fresh chicken hearts and the last Whiskas sachet! All tummies are full of yummies and now they want cuddles ...
