Work was busy. I'm doing things my way and getting things done - but, of course, with no integration with the interacting departments, it's frustrating. In other words: same ole, same ole.
I missed a call from one of the couriers, so I called him back - but I just could not understand a word he was saying! He was talking so fast and in a low voice, that it all jumbled together. Eventually we established he can hoot outside the gate. Nothing happened. That delivery was still not here by five, when I was ready to leave! So, I called him again. Turns out that he was just cruising the area, but, since I hadn't put the company name on the address, he didn't know which of the two business on this corner to go to! Duh! Either! They know me across the road as well! Ah well, note to self: always add the business name to the delivery address.
That was the cheese making kit, so it arrived only after five. My colleague was still waiting for his ride, and he was also fascinated with that idea, so I went back inside, we opened the parcel and inspected the goodies! It looks quite simple, so I should be able to play with it this weekend - time permitting!
Over the past few days an old friend of mine kept popping up in my mind. So, today, I gave him a call! Always lovely to talk to him. And also as always, he's going to come visit! Possibly this weekend, but we didn't set a date, yet. We're arranging that via e-mail. I look forward to seeing him!
At lunchtime my grocery parcel arrived, so we could inspect the yoghurt starter culture in that one! Cor, that looks quite a complex procedure - it'll take quite a bit of preparation and time, so possibly one Sunday? But not this one, if I'm going to play with the cheese making kit. I just gave the instructions a quick glance-over ... looks also that I may need some more things to actually make the yoghurt. However, on the bright side, this little kit could provide me with a life-time supply of yoghurt! I read that you can take a daughter-culture and make more yoghurt using that, instead of starting a new one from the grains they've provided! Only catch is, that you need to use that within seven days - I'll have to spend some time going through their leaflet to plan nicely how, when and what I'll do.
I'm not sure whether I should be concerned, that I haven't heard from the chocolate delivery, yet? I ate the last peanut cup tonight, so ...
On the way home, I stopped for milk. I mentioned that I'd be trying out cheese making and he told me that, if I bring him a 5 liter bottle, I can get 5 liter for the price of 4! Thing is, those bottles he uses are quite costly. He's tried people bringing their own bottles, but he found that they don't clean them - he told me he's even notices they pee in some of the bottles! Seriously? And then you give the bottle to be filled with milk? Yikes! Anyway, when the milk goes off in the dirty bottles, they blame him. So he went back to the standard plastic milk bottles. Remember, I had asked if he recycles and he said no - because the cream sets in the handle part, and it's really difficult to try and clean that! So, this weekend I'll do some looking into getting milk bottles! At first I considered getting a 5 liter water bottle - but that one will not fit into the fridge door, so I'd have to put it on the bottom tray and it might be a bit too heavy for the glass. So, I'll see if I can find something that will suit all needs. It would help me, too, since those bottles take up a lot of space in my 'recycle' cupboard!
At home, I found another puddle of piddle in the passage! And a little one in the bedroom against my wardrobe door and another one in the kitchen under the window and another one in the kitchen corner behind the gas bottle! Ai ai ai! What is the problem here? Sigh, I actually suspect it is my fault ... I think the sand in the litter box is now too low for comfort, so alternatives are being sought.
I'm not even certain that it IS Mewthos, although when I see the streak running down the wall, at his spray-height? Hmmm ...
I took a walk through the garden and picked quite a few tomatoes! One was even halfway to a decent size! So, I think the next lot will be much better! I see they are sprouting happily already!
And then, mini tried to use my vegetable garden as her toilet! Sigh. I stopped her and she just couldn't understand what was wrong? She's using potty, like we do inside, so ... ? I'm afraid she pulled out some of the freshly sprouted tomato plants. Eventually she went and sat among the red flower succulents. I'm sure she'll learn, in time.
Another funny incident with Mini! As I was on the toilet, she came and tried to pull my pants off! I was still wearing my work pants - and to her, they are not work pants, but her fortress! Ha Ha! She was doing her best to get them off me!
Later on, I saw the most delightful sight: Ziva and Tynx were playing together! They were chasing the yellow glitter ball - together! No hissing, no growling, but happy playing together! Now, it's only Lady Jane who still dislikes the new addition. I think it may be, that she feels neglected - she is now so unassuming, not demanding attention, well at least not during the week, only on weekends. I must make a point of picking her up for cuddles in the evenings more often. With Mewthos making such a pest of himself, jumping on the table now, I've started picking him up and holding him in my arm while I prepare food. Ziva comes and mips at me for attention, too - only Janey retreats to the top of the chest of drawers and just watches. I do kiss and scratch her ears when I walk past, but that may not be enough.
Ach, mippies! I love you all so very much! You bring so much laughter, entertainment and love into my home! I sometimes wish I could work from home - but that's really not in my nature. At home, I like to 'home', not work. Chores are fine, but I like to pick up kitties, potter in the garden, potter in the kitchen ... concentrating is somewhat difficult with my four lovebugs, as they do need such a lot of attention - at a time of their choosing, or rather, nature's choosing. Sometimes, as I try to write this blog at home, my mind is half on my mippies - I don't know whether you've noticed that sometimes I'm distracted, rather than focused on what I'm writing?
