Friday

I had to snatch my phone quickly this morning, before Tynx could push that annoying ringy thing off the night stand again! To be fair, first she licks my face and only resorts to pushing it off, when I don't react. She is such a funny cat! Miss Underfoot!

Good thing, too, as I received a message, warning of bad weather conditions. Expect thunderstorms, large hail and gusty winds! I thought at first it might be a PE message - I've never received such a warning before - but it specifically mentioned Tshwane (which is the Pretoria municipality's name - don't ask, our municipalities have all been re-named, they're no longer the same as the city's name. Confusing, I know!).

Lady Jane was quite desperate to go outside - she's not happy about the new litter box contents. I feel for her, and I'm now adding bicarbonate of soda again. I hope that will help her get used to the wood fibers? They are great for piddles, but not so great for solids. I'm also using the expensive, fine one's - I did buy a small bag of the larger fibers and added them to the piddle box, but none of the mippies like those. Neither do I. Funny how the fine sand & fibers are all supposedly for kittens and how adult cats should be using coarse stuff - whoever decided that has clearly no interest in cats! At least not in their comfort nor preference.

On the way to work, looking at the weather and remembering that horrific collision two weeks ago, I decided not to do the Pretoria East shopping drive today.

As I made that decision, it felt like a weight lifting off my shoulders! Cor, I really do dread those trips, don't I?

During the day, however, the weather cleared and by two it was looking almost clear skies again, so I will be going, after all. Since I didn't take out anything for dinner tonight, I'd say that it's a good decision, ha ha!

Shopping went a lot faster, without the Pick 'n Pay part of it, and I was home about half past four. After I'd unpacked everything, I checked how much money was left in my account ... Ouch!

No, I didn't go badly overboard today, actually, I kept within my list. But I've already spent my whole salary! No, not the rent money, of course, but I definitely won't be increasing my savings this month! And then the information so casually dropped this morning fell into place as well: our planner mentioned to our client, that we're planning to shut down first week of December! I went and checked the calendar - that would mean, instead of the standard three weeks, we'd be at home for five, possibly even six weeks! That's going to hit our hourly staff very, very badly! Especially, if this is announced at the last minute - giving nobody a chance to prepare! I mean, if we seriously shut down for such a long time - that will mean we'll all have to take unpaid leave, reducing our income drastically! I really hope that's not really the plan - but I had better prepare for that!

And that means stocking up! Which, in turn, means: more spending. Sigh. So, I had better make a list of what I'll need - and what quantities.

At least I won't need to make another Pretoria East trip this year - I can, if I want to, but I don't need to! That's a relief, at least.

Well, it's been an interesting day. And I've got lots that I could do this weekend, with very little on the 'must do' list! But right now, my mippies want me ...
