At least I woke up early enough to have coffee this morning! Actually, Schlecki licked me awake around twenty to six. She hasn't done that in a while. Funny how they change their habits over time!
I followed up on my chocolate order today, and it turns out it was sent for delivery on Monday already! The courier had a problem, but notified nobody. Not me - although they had my cell phone number, nor the supplier. I spoke to a very nice lady, who offered to replace the chocolates - as she's worried that they may have been parked in the sun for four days, and may have melted. I'll see what arrives, when it arrives.
Okay, the courier just called, it was again the omission of the business name that caused the delay. Sigh, I'll definitely not forget to add that in future! My chocolates should arrive tomorrow - awesome!
What I also did today, is to go through the current Spar specials and write my shopping list. I'll go tomorrow morning again, just after the teleconference with our client. Ice cream is also on special, but I think I'd rather make my own! The reason I haven't done so until now, is because the recipe requires double-thick milk - which is really almost impossible to get hold of, and where they do sell it, it's at a horrendous price! And then my colleague mentioned that his wife used to make ice cream with tinned milk! He wasn't sure whether evaporated or condensed milk - I'll figure that one out - but hey, what a brilliant idea!
It's evaporated milk, according to what I just googled. I have a tin at home, so I can try it out and if it works, I'll get more. No use adding to my stock, if I won't be using it!
Okay, I've looked at bottles. They have the perfect 1L glass milk bottles at Makro ... sigh. On Takealot they also offer a 1L glass bottle, which would work fine and on Faithful to nature a 2L glass jar. Hmmm ... The farmer is offering 5L for the price of 4L, and I assume that the reason he's going by 5L, is because that will not require change, whereas with 1L and 2L, it would require change. So ... what's it going to be? I'll have a look whether they have anything at the Spar, when I go there tomorrow. Who knows, I might just get lucky!
On the way home, I stopped to get milk. I asked whether he pasteurizes his milk and he said no, and then told me about a customer, who's children were diagnosed as allergic to milk, but had no problems drinking fresh, unpasteurized milk! Interesting! He also offered to give me a 5L bottle to use, so I told him I'm looking into getting glass bottles and he quickly agreed those are best.
At home, there was no piddle puddle to clean! Lovely! I did, however, change the litter box completely. I cleaned it then filled it with the wood fibers - and it uses nearly the entire bag! I'll have to get more, and soon!
Oh, and then I saw an e-mail. From the courier. In reply to the thread which ALSO contains my message that the Courier had called me. Telling me that she needs the information to send the parcel. Just like that. No apology for inconvenience, no apology for no contact, nothing, just saying 'if you want us to do our job, first go an extra mile!'. Sounds just like our company - we also send mails like that to suppliers and clients alike! Full of attitude and completely devoid of any thought! Anyway, I replied and later got a response saying 'thank you and sorry for bothering you after hours.' Yeah, right!
When I took off my work pants, I put them over the stand without thinking. Mini came to see, then hid under the scratcher! Then I remembered and placed them on the floor for her - she came running and dived right in! I took care of all foodies - had to lift Mewthos into my arms a few times - then sat and played with my mippies!
Oh, and I asked my landlord about that strange cry I keep hearing outside. It sounds like a cat, but not quite. I thought it would turn out to be some feline animal - but apparently, it's a peacock! Cor, what a strange sound to come from a bird!
I paid attention to each of my mippies. I scratched Ziva's ears for a while, I carried Mewthos in my arms and I just gave Janey a good brushing, then I went to kiss mini's tummy! It's going on nine, so I'm ready for bed ...
