I read up about the Way of Cats

I had a bad night. Woke up still feeling completely drained – and very, very late! Ziva wasn’t ready to come back in when I went to work, so she’s spending the day outside today. When I was driving off, she was sauntering into Rose’s garden from across the street.

I tried leaving the window open last night – no problem. So I’m leaving it open today as well. Right now, my only fear is that Ziva might inadvertently lure them into jumping a height greater than they can.

I’ve been reading a blog about cats, how they think, why they react how they do, etc. www.wayofcats.com And what I like a lot about this blog, is how every single page links to a different entry about similar or the same subject, so one can actually jump around inside the blog, going from chapter to chapter, following a thread. I think I should make the effort of linking to the relevant entry myself, when I’m referring to a past discussion.

So I’ve spent the past hour or two updating this document with the titles I had given my posts up to today, and I realised just how much sleep deprivation I’ve been enduring ever since Ziva has moved in! Going back to 16th_August last year when she spent her first night indoors with me (I’m going to try to link to that post here). So I tried to find that post about sleeping through the night on Way of Cats’ blog, but the blog isn’t searchable. Well, the one I meant was ‘The 3 AM Problem’. It doesn’t help with my problem, though, since I’m not being woken up – just disturbed enough to not get the rest I need. I can, however:
- tire them out before sleep
- end the play session with wet food treat (they have kibbles 24/7)
- grab and cuddle any cat that comes onto the bed for anything but sleeping
- ignore Ziva before my alarm goes off – trouble with that one, though, is that my  bladder ‘goes off’ when I’m woken by Ziva.
- move all noisy toys into the lounge at night.

Back at home, Ziva is quite eager to go inside – visit the food bowl! Ha Ha, that’s my guess, at least. Lady Jane is being very cuddly and loving lately, today she even comes to nap on my lap! I guess it’s her turn. Mewthos first – less now, then Earl with his shoulder perching and now Lady Jane.

When Rose left, after her daily visit, the twins followed her. I had to come down myself and send Ziva after them to get them back to their home! Adventurous little Mip Mips!

I’ve managed to find the energy to cook dinner and pack tomorrow’s lunch, but that’s the end for me today. I’m now waiting for all Mip Mips to come back inside as it’s getting dark. Then playing outside all evening bodes well for my sleep, though.

Obviously, I also cleaned the bird’s trays, gave him fresh food and water, scooped the litter box, re-filled the cat water dispenser and all that necessary jazz.

I’m not even going to make it till nine tonight, I’m just too tired. And now Ziva is doing her ‘it may be too late for kittens to go out, but I want out NOW’ meowing routine. I’m ignoring it.

Now I’m going to post this blog, then feed the felines and then for an early night, I seriously hope!
