Up early, monthly bulk shopping done. On a whim I left
the front door open, see what the Mip Mips would do. At first they stayed only
upstairs, then ventured down for some time, now they’re back upstairs. I had to
literally throw Ziva out after them for her to take some sort of
responsibility!
It’s been going well for the past two hours. I don’t
look when they jump onto the wall / banister – it’s waist height on the one
side, but frighteningly high on the other. Right by the door it’s so high, I
can’t look down without getting woozy. Ok, so that’s two floors – it doesn’t take much
to get me woozy. I don’t do well with heights. But the Mip Mips are all still
alive and still here. I’m kind of tired, dead tired, so when they take their
noon Siesta, I think I’ll join them!
I was about to make myself breakfast, but the rolls
were growing penicillin already, so I baked myself some scones. Quick-mix,
takes less than five minutes to prepare – and, instead of rolling and cutting
dough, I just plop it into a muffin tray.
It’s 30°C in the shade. I had a lovely nap with the
Mip Mips, got up and opened every door and window. They don’t seem to wander
far from me. I still have groceries in the car, though. I guess they’ll have to
stay there for a while, yet.
The scones turned out nice. While I’m putting
blueberry jam with cream on them, Ziva decides to take over my chair. Like they
say ‘For the best seat in the house, move the cat’!
Rose’s neighbour’s fighting cat is under the tree in
my garden – Ziva won’t go down the stairs while she’s around. The Mip Mips seem
to be safe from her, though. Won’t fight babies. They’re down stairs now, but
not going far – not even as far as the garden. I guess they are at an age,
where they no longer dash exuberantly into danger. Like that time when Earl
dashed down the stairs and was halfway to the road before Ziva managed to catch
up with him! Strangely enough, Earl is staying very close to me. Both of the
boys are – Lady Jane is the adventurous one, yet, nothing like the handful
Quizzy Lizzy is! I’m told she made her first attempt at climbing curtains in
her new home already, he he.
Rose saw Lady Jane from her porch, when she called to
her, Lady Jane made every effort to reach Rose – so Rose decided not to
encourage that. He He, I told Rose, if they come to you – they’re yours! They’ve
had a lovely whole day out, now they’ve come home to sleep.
I haven’t done much today, but I’m also ready to
sleep. It’s not so much the heat – open doors & windows and the fan helped
with that – but I feel drained of all energy. Even going shopping this morning
was a drag, I was sort of pushing myself every step of the way. I keep hoping
to wake after a good night's sleep filled with energy.
