Practical Jokes at work

I’ve had a very restless night. The weather was so stormy last night, I didn’t have the heart to chase Silver out, so I took a large flower-pot water tray (about 0.5m diameter) filled it with potting soil and put it in the bathroom – as a temporary litter-box. Which she ignored. She widdled on the kitchen mat. No problem, I can wash it in the machine. But boy, is that cat active! I don’t know how many times she roused me for attention throughout the night! At one point she had snuggled under the feather duvet by my leg and I thought she’d finally be done for the night ... nope. I don’t know if I can handle a repeat – but maybe she won’t either! I have no clue how I managed to not only wake up on time, but get out of bed, get dressed, etc. As I leave for work she’s around my feet all the way to the end of the flower-beds ... then, as I purposefully stroll past – she runs off quite happily in the other direction! No ‘forlorn and abandoned’ impression today!

Work is again busy and chaotic – trying to get on with the deadlined task while every Tom, Dick and Harry brings me another ‘but can’t you just quickly’. Interesting exchange at the copier: three people are printing, two of us at the printer. Some documents already lying on top for Mr Three. I take out the documents and hand Mr Two his docs – one Mr Three’s page turns out to be in between them (it’s the same format as Mr Three’s lying on top of the printer), so he hands it to me saying “This is yours.” Me: “No”. He: “Yes it is!” Excuse me?!? Me: “I should know what I printed, and that’s not mine.” He goes off grumbling. Who does that? Insisting he knows what I printed better than I do?

Our electrician is quite fond of playing practical jokes. This week he changed one of the guys e-mail signature to read “Tube Master of South Africa” without him noticing! Today, I played a trick on him: He’s had this bar or chocolate lying in his shelf for the longest time, so I took out the chocolate, put it in the fridge and placed a cardboard reading “Thank you!” inside the wrapper! So far he hasn’t even touched it – but I hope I get to witness his reaction when he does!
