Mip Mips in the tree

Yeah … not full of energy today. Didn’t even wake up at a decent hour, it was close to eight! So, I’ll try a different approach: Take the body and the mind will follow.

So I got my groceries – not much, just bread and milk. Back at home, I let the Mip Mips out – all the way out again. At nine in the morning it’s already over 30°C. I’ve got the fan going, all doors and windows open and the Mip Mips are laying about on the top step with Ziva like four furry doormats.

Did the laundry and the dishes, boiled some eggs for potato salad. Then I spent the afternoon selecting photos to put on a DVD for Rose. By the time I got to December, the DVD was full! Rose came to visit just as the DVD had finished burning – perfect timing!

We cleaned the bird cage, then went outside to watch Mip Mip TV. They’ve come alive and were busily exploring the garden – with Earl leading the charge and Ziva & Shadow watching every move. Ziva showed Earl how to get up the tree – he followed and promptly got stuck! Rose and I watched the entertainment as Ziva tried to show him how to come back down, he’d come down a bit, then climbed up another branch, then Lady Jane climbed up and they were both out on a limb! I had to look away a few times, I’m not at ease with them exploring so far out, even though it’s still inside my garden.

Goofy Mewthos - scares the heck out of me when he's up there!
I've seen him tumble off the bed - just last night again.

I can’t keep them indoors, as much as I’d like to. I just don’t have the space, nor the toys and furniture that would require. It’s better they learn about outside from their mothers and I can only hope they don’t get into the road.

As soon as Rose is gone, the Mip Mips finish their heart-stopping entertainment, come back inside and curl up on the chest – meek as lambs! At five the temperatures finally begin to drop below 30°C, and hour later and it’s overcast – even looking like rain! So I shut the door – and Ziva starts her complaining. It only quietens down after eight.

Rose tells me her daughter reckons Lizzy has decided two in the morning is play time. Every night! She wakes her up to play with her! That would explain why I’m so low in energy: If they Mip Mips play every night at that time, that would be just enough to disturb my sleep without waking me – and I’d wake up after nine hours as if I’d only had about four! Add to that Ziva waking me early every morning – and I don’t stand much chance of living a normal, energetic life!

Maybe their adventure today tired them out?

They're nursing again!
