I woke up around sunrise, I opened the door to let
Ziva out, but she didn’t want to go out. When I went back into the bedroom,
Mewthos shot out between my legs. I
went back to bed. Lady Jane chirped me awake sometime around eight. I gave her
some one-on-one attention before I let mommy and ouboet back in.
It’s overcast, cool with the occasional drizzle, so I
let my felines play outside. Mommy goes straight to her favourite spot: under
the spekboom! Mewthos and Lady Jane stay nearby, coming in for attention or
reassurance every few minutes. At one point they follow me into the bedroom, so
I shut them in so that I can quickly go out.
Oh gosh, it seems I got a traffic fine! Only: it
happened on 13th Nov. The fine was only issued on 5th
Dec. And is due for payment before 4th Jan! It’s a company car, so
the fines go to my boss. Who delegates to his wife. Who ‘deals’ with such
matters at her convenience. Nice, eh? Well, I’ve paid it, and if late payment
is a problem – that’s not mine.
When I went downstairs I found my pot plant had been
de-potted! As in: the plant is upside down and the pot is gone! No, I don’t
think anyone came into my garden to steal the pot – I suspect the wind toppled
it over and blew the pot who knows where!
I think I’ve overcome the snag I hit with the
scratching post – but it means more drilling! And worse: more cutting of PVC
pipes – which I hate! Because it’s a tough job with a little hacksaw.
Right, done – and it solved the stability problem!
Yay! I am so super impressed with myself, now! So is Rose, who came at just the
right time to see before and after.
Next step is to add the finish around the corners.
That stuff needs to be ironed on! Yeah, seriously! Good thing I do have an iron
– even though I never use it for clothes. Then I have to cut off what hangs
over the sides of that finish – it’s wider than the board.
Okay, done. Now, what’s the next step? Hmm, I think
carpet – that’s easy and looks like big progress.
Well, now! So far my little structure seems to be a
big hit! Mewthos on top, Lady Jane underneath both of them playing catch – even
Ziva is joining in! And it isn’t even finished, yet! Now that’s what I call
rewarding!
On Wednesday I’ll start wrapping rope around
those supports, so they can sharpen their claws on them. But the main feature
is the center pole – I’ll attach a scratcher to that, and cover the rest with
rope. I’ll make it as tall as I can, without loosing stability – so they can
stretch while they sharpen their claws on that.
