I woke up at least half a dozen times throughout the
night – every time a Mini mewled! Probably because Silver hasn’t figured out
how to pick up her kittens, yet, and also knowing her habit of just plonking
herself down whenever she’s been up to stretch her legs – regardless of where
her brood is. She’s plonked herself down on a kitten several times, which then
mewls and struggles to get out from under her!
So, I slept a bit later than planned and took a while
to get into gear. Grocery shopping took quite some time. First stop: Petrol. Company
Petrol Card expired. Used my own. Then I went to Makro, then Superspar – no milk!
Tried to get electricity – no code. The slip of paper with my meter number
somehow left my wallet, so I’ll have to go again – with the number. I did some
googling on pet food so I applied what I learned and spent a while in the pet
food aisle. Turns out the brand of tins Silver likes best ARE the best. Min 50%
meat – whereas all the others (same price) show either min 4% meat or don’t
mention %. They didn’t have the dry food she likes best – anywhere (I tried
three shops plus a pet shop) so I selected the best of the lower price-range.
Since it goes mostly to the strays, I can’t quite afford to go top range. I
tried to find kitten food as well – but I think I’ll have to get that at a vet.
At home I’ve discovered the mystery about the flower
which always seems to be ‘about to bloom’ and then looks like the flower broke
off: They only bloom a few hours in the morning! Each flower only one day. I’ll
take some pics tomorrow elaborating this. When I left to go shopping, a yellow
flower was blooming, I made a mental note to take a photo. When I came out
later to take that photo, it was already wilting.
It was a beautiful day today and I’d have liked to
spend some time in the garden – the gardening disservice has been around on
Friday and left one heck of a mess! That last patch at the back looks awful,
they just cut all those big leaves off the weeds and leave them where they
fall! I thought the Nasturtiums had been spared, since there were no chopped of
bits lying around – turns out they picked up the bits they chopped off! Every single
one got mangled! Not one spared.
I was too tired, though, and took a nap instead. At
the Superspar they also put some ‘previously frozen’ chicken in the shelves –
at a very low price; so I took a pack for Silver. I wouldn’t take the chance of
eating that myself, but it’ll be better than any tinned food on the market. I
steamed it and let it cool. When I started picking the meat of the bones Silver
came and strolled around my feet meowing, almost like she knew! That’s just a
cute spin I put on her nuisance begging hehe.
Well, I hope the forecast rain will not arrive
tomorrow, so I can spend some time gardening this weekend.
