Work heats up

Interesting thing happened at work after I left yesterday: we set fire to some paint inside the factory! Nobody felt the need to report that – so we only found out when the client demanded answers. I just love egg on my face! I’ve already heard two versions, the only thing they have in common is that paint and welding sparks were involved. So far, the investigation has resulted in one single witness statement – so I’ve had to stay late to produce at least a preliminary report to present to the client. Right now I’m actually drowning in work – I don’t know where I’m going to find the time for a full investigation.

My boss (as in the guy who pays my salary and pimps me out to projects) showed up at work unexpectedly, so I took some time to touch base – as in: what’s he got in mind for me after this project, etc. We’re on the same page. Unfortunately it’s blank.

I made some progress on that new task, at least, but I’m not going to meet the deadline. There’s just no way I’ll be able to finish the documentation for 4 production lines by Friday – especially since I’ll be spending most of Thursday on the Incident Investigation. Never a dull moment!

Back home, I had barely opened the door when the cat-parade started. First Sliver showed up, at least she’s no longer starving, as she seemed more interested in investigating my lounge than the food. She even sat on my lap for nearly a whole minute. Eventually she got bored and wandered off – no clue where to! Next in line was the neighbour’s cat! For some reason, stolen food seems to taste better than the large variety of delicious foods always standing available for him at home. Still waiting for Ginger to show up.

Continuing the gourmet parade, I’m frying the marinated rump steak for dinner. Delicious!

And Ginger just showed up, completing the cat-parade. Do I qualify for crazy-cat-lady even if I no cat actually lives with me?

I’m trying to decide what I want to spend my precious day off doing – apart from filling the drum. It’s promising to be a nice, sunny day, so the garden is very tempting.
