Idyllic morning & Poinsettia rescue

I love the first two hours in the morning, before eight! Standing by the window, watching the sky change colour from fiery red to orange to yellow as the sun rises, the birds taking their morning role-call first one species then another until the Hadeda’s break the beautiful sound-background with their loud screech followed at eight by the church bells putting an end to the idyll.

Then off to do the dreaded shopping – 40 minutes inside. Nuff said.

My neighbour is feeling a lot better – well enough to embark on a Poinsettia rescue mission. She was kind enough to offer to catch it, while I pushed it off the ledge with a broom – which also meant she ended up covered in potting soil! I went downstairs and cleaned all the soil off her stairs – the least I could do! And then, of course, we sat down to chat.

Chores done, Curry is almost ready – it smells delicious! I’ve just added the veggies, not much longer now!

The neighbourhood cats seem to really have taken to this new feeding-scheme of mine – the 1 kg Whiskas I bought last weekend is already finished, so I got 2x1.8kg Bob Martens today. Ginger, Silver and even the neighbours cat seem to like it. Ginger is really, really shy – runs at the slightest movement or noise. Silver seems to want affection as well, but isn’t really sure. She’s hanging around my front door, nibbles at the food occasionally for show – and just looks at me. I went to her, petted her, picked her up, put her on my lap … I guess two minutes fills her need.

Interesting note, though: The cats jump at noises I make – movement, typing, camera-shutter – but the DVD running in the background has no effect, no matter what noises come from that!
