It’s
been raining throughout the night and still pouring this morning – however, for
tomorrow sunshine is forecast, so I’m postponing the dreaded shopping to
tomorrow. Now I’m glad I did part of it yesterday already – at least I have
fresh milk and veggies. Meat is never a problem, since I always keep some in
the freezer. I’m thinking of making a Curry today – I’ve got all I need for
that, and the weather fits.
Around
nine it stopped raining so I went outside for a photo-shoot! Clambering around
the puddle at the bottom of the stairs is a bit tricky, though.
The
flowers are pretty with a wet sheen on them.
The
Nasturtium leaves look especially stunning with droplets of water all over
them.
My
beans are starting to flower as well.
And my
Alströmeria is finally opening up again!
Back
upstairs and the rain started again. I tried to capture the rain against a dark
background.
And
then I saw a neighbour hanging up washing! Hanging it up! In the pouring rain!
I’m speechless – I can’t imagine even the least shred of logic involved in
this.
And
then I saw Silver climbing over the wall into my neighbours garden, so I called
her. She cleaned out three bowls filled with food (I refilled twice)! In between
she’d look at me, meowed and even came up for attention. She was soaking wet,
so every time after petting her I’d have to wash and dry my hands. She seemed
really keen on attention though – but once the food bowl was filled again, that
got her full attention.
Then
the rain stopped again and the sun came out. The puddle had grown even larger –
the cat-TV box is too high up for it to drain through there, so it has to seep
away into the ground through all the cracks. And clambering around that is
really tricky – and, of course, dangerous.
Silver
was sitting in the sun drying off, when she looked up I noticed for the first
time what beautiful green eyes she has when she’s happy! Almost like my Mynx.
His eyes would be yellow when I was teasing him and go emerald green when he
was happy – and in a black cat, emerald green eyes look absolutely beautiful!
Anyway, I tried to get a snap of Silvers green eyes.
Then
it started raining again. Some Hadeda’s dropped in picking something edible out
of my garden.
I’ve
been investigating recipes and all lamb curries and stews recommend marinating
overnight, so I’ll do that. I also found a promising recipe for the venison
goulash – although that’ll take 2-3 hours and sour cream, of which I don’t have
enough. So I’ll have to add coconut cream. Grated some fresh nutmeg – and, of
course, I went a bit too far and grated my knuckle as well. The marinade tastes
awesome, so I hope for a great curry tomorrow. Venison is simmering in the left-over
sour cream and coconut cream. I’m in for a gourmet weekend! Ideally the venison
goes with rice but I’m leaning towards paste – cooked in the sauce so it
absorbs the flavours. Both meals are too much for one, though, so there will be
some bagging and freezing for a lazy day. The hardest part is trying to work
out how to simmer on the induction cooker. I’ve got it on the lowest setting I
could find: BBQ 80 – but still gotta keep an eye on it, stir regularly and
still it’s burning! Sigh. I normally use my electric pot for slow cooking – but
I want that for tomorrow.
