I took it quite easy last night. Fed the ferals, fed the babies, medicated them. I didn't wash Mew-Mew's butt - I felt the wounds, and they're both dry. I could let them out tonight - but decided to postpone to tomorrow. With them all having been locked up since Saturday, I fear they may get a case of the Walk-abouts and disappear for a while ... I'm not up to hunting cats in the dark. Not on top of everything else!
I ran as much of the bath as I could get before the power went off. Cooked the last of the roast - the other half is still in the freezer. Another time. I took out the cottage pie for tonight, until Saturday.
Internet was nice, so I thought I'd watch an interview ... half-way through, internet went poof! Sigh ...
This morning I got up early and made myself a fresh pot of coffee! Should have done that yesterday, but ... well ... power outage ...Sigh ...
Mewthos is being quite a difficult customer regarding his pills! He spat out the half pill I gave him this morning - three times! And I found the one he spat out yesterday! I thought he'd chewed it up, but clearly he hadn't. He's not exactly the easiest cat to wrestle ... being the biggest of the lot! Well, I have two more pills. I wonder whether I have enough energy and patience, though?
I've decided to only let the babies out tomorrow afternoon, as well - where I can keep an eye on them, to see where they go. Their mommy hasn't been around since her steri ... though, since I'm now shut in every evening, with my mippies, it's quite possible she's around when I'm inside.
Faithful to Nature delivery arrived! It was a bit light, so I checked ... yup, all 4 items inside! Sigh ... used to including a treat or two for myself ... not anymore ...
Went grocery shopping. Sigh ... Budget not looking good. I spent less than my 'weekly' budget - but, of course, not less enough to make up for the overspending on my online order.
The trouble is that everything has gone up by a hefty %, just recently. As all retailers are now including load shedding into their costing ... In April electricity prices are going up ... then EVERYTHING will go up, yet again ...
That's one of the reasons I'm stocking up on what little I can afford to stock up on. Like cleaning materials. The laundry detergent, today I bought a dishwashing liquid refill, and a bar of cheap soap. Fresh milk was on special, so I'm treating myself. I also got pepper corns and oregano. Both refills.
The oregano on the veranda is sprouting, but it's going to be a while before I can harvest. And I really, really need to organise my seeds, because I want a flippin' caper bush growing! And blueberries. And mushrooms. Okay, they will be delivered next week, then I can start growing them. I looked at mushroom prices today ... yeah ... 4 times what the tray costs! Just need to be patient and persistent.
I wish I had more energy to put into the garden! Lately, I've put more energy into cooking ... I'm just one person!
This weekend, I've decided that I'm going to make Pizza! I got thin cheese sausage, to make a border, so I can top it big time! I still have mozarella - which actually needs using up - and I have mushrooms in the freezer, I'll make some mince, I have plenty of tomatoes ... just ... what am I going to do with the butternut and the potatoes? Hmm ...
And as I think about it ... pizza is a lot of work ... again ... the whole plan was to spend less time in the kitchen, and more time in the garden, this weekend! Hmm ...
No! I've got half of the roast still in the freezer - I'll defrost that Sunday. And I still have one or two frozen meals in the freezer, I can use those - or make a quick pasta & cheese Thursday and Friday. I can make pizza next weekend, on Tuesday, as Tuesday is a public holiday, and I'm taking the Monday off. Long weekend. So this weekend, I only have the laundry, dishes and baking bread on my 'must' list. Rest of the weekend: garden!
There! Put that in your bed and love it!
And now ... it's ten to five. Although tonight's load shedding is 15:00 - 18:30, I doubt I'll bother to turn on the PC. So ... publishing now ...
