SoD Day 25 LS 4 5 Monday

I slept relatively well, woke up relatively early. Brewed myself a fresh pot of coffee ... medicated Mewthos, cleaned and treated his wounds. Medicated Spitfire - who just sat on a box, hissing at me, but let me grab him quite easily! Medicated Sybill, who tried to wriggle free. Gave them fresh food, fresh water, and wet food.

Sat down for a smoke ... saw Sybill & Vimes' mommy stroll past the back, so I thought "maybe I can trap her quickly?" Got some wet food, put it on a styrofoam board, placed it in the trap. Filled the other two bowls for the other ferals. Carried the bowls out, put them in the shack. Carried the trap to the Wendy, set it up. Mommy nowhere to be seen.

I moved away from the car port, so the others could eat - Tabetha is particularly shy, won't go near the bowls when I'm around. A few minutes passed. The mommy is cautiously approaching! She's trying to get to the food bowls in the shack ... so I try to keep her away, without spooking her! Tricky!

Get the trap, place it on the car port, take the food bowls away ... move to the veranda ... and wait. Mommy is approaching the food, which is at the back of the trap ... she's sniffing, pawing, trying to get it out ... not going near the open trap, though. I wait ... I don't have to wait very long, though! She went in, I get the blanket and throw it over her!

You can see the colouring is very, very similar to the two babies!

Then back inside, grab Mewthos ... who does NOT want to go into the carrier! I eventually had to stand it up, with the door on top, and lower him into the carrier!

At the vet's - they are very, very busy! I take the feral to the back, then sit in the waiting room with Mewthos. Vet comes and asks the lady in front of me, if she'd mind letting Mewthos first, as he's just a quick check - she was kind enough to agree. Poor Mew-Mew peed in the carrier! I covered it with the blankie - but he's covered in pee, as well!

Vet checked him, he's fine! Just need to keep him inside, I guess, until the wound is closed. Frankly, though, whether he gets dirt from outside, or dust from my floors into the wound ... I don't see the difference? Sigh ... yeah, I haven't managed to wash the floors this weekend ...

Took Mewthos back home and let him out - he is now industriously washing himself. Off to work ...

Not too late, though. Arrived around nine!

If I had just the feral to drop off, I could have gone earlier, as the receptionist is there early. But the vet only opens at eight, so I had to leave quite a bit later. Plus, they are short staffed - only one vet able to work, at the moment.

And I just remembered to remind them to snip the ear! They didn't do that on Smeagol and the two kittens ... that's normally done on ferals, to visually mark that they're sterilised. So, if anyone new comes on the scene, they know they're already done.

Anyway, work is more like a respite from the animal hospital at home! I still have a headache, though, and the Grand-Pa aren't helping. My lunch is awesome, though! A slice of bread, with roast beef and veggies? Yum, yum, yum!

Aaaand load shedding going up a stage. Instead of Stage 4, we're hopping to Stage 5 at four this afternoon! At least it doesn't affect the six to eight time slot, but we are going off from two until five tomorrow morning! Until five, because at five we drop to Stage 4 ... or at least, so we hope!

Right. i meant to order Whiskas this morning ... only got around to it now ... just past three.

I've also had no response from Sir Fruit. Mightily tee'd off about that! Since they've changed staff, the service has gone downhill ...

Anyway, it's almost four ... time to go!
