Aaaand we now have a Minister of Electricity! Seriously, WTF? Will we also get a Minister of Potholes? And why did it take 26 days to appoint? I think I'll just pass on ...
Last night, I fetched the feral - turns out she, too, had already been pregnant again! And her babies are barely 2 months old! Can you imagine how quickly that colony would have grown? Let's hope that no more show up!
At home, Mewthos is still being ostracised ... poor baby! Right now, THAT is hurting him more than anything else! You can see he's depressed, he's not his exuberant normal self, he just lays about, mournfully gazing either outside or at his mommy or his sister ... Mini still growls if he comes anywhere near her ...
I managed to cook just in time, nearly forgot about load shedding - as I was chatting to the cat lady. She's asking me to take her traps to the next location, which happens to be close to my work, so it's no problem.
Babies were calling, so I went and spent some time with them. They've managed to overturn their water bowl and cover their food bowl! I've now given them the plastic bowls, which they can't overturn, for everything. They get kibbles, water, and twice a day wet food. I spent about half an hour playing with Lady Sybill, she purrs up a storm! Spitfire Vimes huddles nearby - at least he's coming closer - but growls and hisses if I come too close!
I struggled to go to sleep, again. And I woke up a few times during the night ... so ... not a good night. Sigh ...
This morning, I had coffee, treated Mewthos, shoved half a pill down his throat - ha ha! He doesn't appreciate that, but at least he doesn't spit it out, either. I'll do the babies tonight. I don't have all that much time in the mornings. Last night, I didn't even pack my lunch, had to do that this morning, too! Gave the babies food, re-filled their kibble bowl and their water bowl.
On the way out, fed the ferals, re-filled their water dispenser. It's getting a bit much, I'm afraid! But I can't not feed them, or leave them without water ...
Got to work a bit late ... busy, though.
Delivered the traps to the next project. So my whole TNR operation is now finished. Well, except for the babies, of course.
Sigh ... just spent more money than I have ... again! I'm going to have to take that out of my weekly grocery budget ... The trouble is, that buying bulk works out cheaper in the long run ... but in the short run, it digs quite deep into your pocket! I'm low on washing powder, for the laundry. I've decided to go back to the eco-unfriendly, cheap brand. That should last me for the rest of the year. They say it's enough for 90 washes, I do 1, sometimes 2 per week. And I don't need a full scoop for my small load. I also need coffee again. I buy bulk 1kg. Fortunately, my preferred coffee was on special. Still ... it digs.
Chocolate was cheaper than my budget, though not by much. Still, it helps. I also added 2 'treats'. One is a journal. With this continuous load shedding, plus lack of internet, it's time I 'go back' to pre-computer days. Make notes the old fashioned way. I can then transfer those to relevant spreadsheets. It wasn't very expensive, either. The second item though, was a bit more expensive: a mushroom growing kit! Button mushrooms! They sell at exorbitant prices in stores, and I've read through loads of reviews first. One or two people didn't get much out of the kit, but many people stated they got more than the advertised yield! As much as nine times more! And if I can get only the advertised yield, that'll be a bargain! I love mushrooms! I miss them in my dishes!
Not being able to garden is really sapping me ... load shedding tonight again from six to eight. That gives me about half an hour to cook and shower. Not so lucky tomorrow night: load shedding from four to eight!
Well, we have a new Minister of Load Shedding, erm, sorry, Electricity. Apart from costing tax payers another million, to build his mansion, buy cars, etc ... what's the point? Ramaphosa re-shuffling his 'cabinet' is really identical to re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic ... and loads of ANC supporters are cheering "All hail! Everything will be fixed, finally!" After thirty years of sinking this country ... I just don't understand how some people can still believe ... never mind. Better not go there ...
Quarter to five. First time I have to work this late in over a week, ha ha! Well, I'm happy to have my Mew-Mew back home! Really! Hopefully his family will soon accept him, again! I do a lot of scent-mixing - stroking one, then Mew-Mew, vice versa. Brushing Mew-Mew, then Mini ... she growls at the brush, ha ha! Well ... soon ... I hope!
